https://www.politico.com/story/2018/11/07/2020-presidential-candidates-955261 Who is running for president? Potential 2020 presidential candidates have been lining up to take on Donald Trump and the GOP, creating one of the most crowded fields in memory. It’s a group packed with traditional politicians, firebrand Trump foes and celebrities who have never held elected office. We’ve categorized the possible Democratic presidential candidates into six groups: The Senators list carries Kamala Harris and Bernie Sanders. The House Members include Tulsi Gabbard, Joe Kennedy and Beto O’Rourke. The Governors list is anchored by Andrew Cuomo and Deval Patrick. The most well known of The Mayors is Michael Bloomberg. The Obama Alums include Joe Biden, Eric Holder and others as potential 2020 presidential candidates. Finally, The Outsiders like Michael Avenatti and Oprah could reshape the road to 2020. Senators: Bernie Sanders of Vermont Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts Cory Booker of New Jersey Kamala Harris of California Kirsten Gillibrand of New York Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota Jeff Merkley of Oregon Mark Warner of Virginia Sherrod Brown of Ohio Tim Kaine of Virginia Representatives: John Delaney of Maryland Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii Joe Kennedy III of Massachusetts Beto O'Rourke of Texas Tim Ryan of Ohio Seth Moulton of Massachusetts Eric Stallwell of California Governors: Steve Bullock of Montana Jay Inslee of Washington Martin O'Malley, formerly of Maryland Andrew Cuomo of New York Terry McAuliffe, formerly of Virginia John Hickenlooper of Colorado Deval Patrick, formerly of Massachusetts Mayors: Michael Bloomberg, formerly of New York City Eric Garcetti, of Los Angeles Mitch Landrieu, formerly of New Orleans Pete Buttigieg, of South Bend, Indiana Obama administration members: Joe Biden, former Vice President Julian Castro, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Eric Holder, former Attorney General Others: Michael Avenatti, attorney Tom Steyer, investor and philanthropist Howard Schulz, CEO of Starbucks By January Biden and Castro at least will state whether they run, 2019 will be a long battle to give these thirty plus people name recognition.
Bernie Sanders 2020
Honestly if he's running with someone good I can see it happening, regardless of his age.
EVERYONE'S BI FOR BIDEN
Man if the Democrats endorced either Bernie or Biden we'd be in good hands
He needs to run with gabbard.
Kinda hoping for Beto, he managed to persuade a lot of republicans in Texas to vote for him.
Bernie / Beto 2020
oprah is not running for president. Oprah is not running for president. For the last time, Oprah is not running for president.
Beto will definitely be a popular candidate given the progress he's made, but Republicans already have ammo against him. They'll play the fact he lost to Ted Cruz, and Cruz lost to Trump. Besides that people don't like Cruz, so that'll be further fuel to the fire. I think he'd stand a good chance against Trump though.
"Oprah would never run for president" says increasingly nervous man for 8th time this year.
A warm gelatin stands a good chance against Trump. Whoever is nominated, it is their race to lose. Hopefully whichever candidate carries the Democratic torch will have learned from the humiliating failures of the Clinton campaign. And before someone says "well ackshully Clinton won the popular vote," I hope to point out, you really shouldn't be all that smug about 'winning' by only 2% over an actual anthropomorphic orange.
I hope whoever runs doesn't make the mistake of being anti-gun. There are so many people with liberal views who have guns as their single issue
vote for beto because he said the fuck word on tv
like, jesus, i am almost one of those people, but no matter how much I like guns, i truly favor my healthcare over them.
>Progressive pro gun legislator with experience and rare appeal to working class whites runs in 2016 >But it's her turn
If Bernie runs and they call him an anti-gun socialist, I hope he quotes Karl Marx's line about the populace needing to be armed to force the government to be socialist if they don't comply
I always make lists for these things. Here's an update using the article. Top tier (All from middle America) Steve Bullock (Kind of unknown but has a good personality, if he moves to the left just a bit on certain issues he'd be my fav) Sherrod Brown (Great on policy and would hurt Trump in the places he needs, but holds important Ohio Senate seat) Amy Klobuchar (Bit too moderate, but seems very down to earth and has done well connecting with voters everywhere) Beto O'Rourke (Strong all around, will be hit as lacking experience in the primaries though but so was Obama) 2nd Tier (From West Coast or New England) Elizabeth Warren (Populist message, but easily painted as east coast liberal) Bernie Sanders (Old, will need strong VP) Jeff Merkley (Unknown to most, bit boring, but great on policy) Kamala Harris (Probably not the best in attracting midwest/white working votes, but she'd do well in the suburbs and shes a black woman) Joe Biden (Old, and still feel like his year was 2016, but he's decently popular across the spectrum where you need to win)
How did anyone forget Akon is thinking of running? A key political player like that
Some combination of Sanders / Gabbard / O'Rourke / Biden would be good. Combine that with more rational gun control policy, and I think the Democrats have an immense chance to win.
Tulsi / Bernie
Bernie announced his candidacy in 2016 in April 2015, so we're only a few months away from the 2020 election season beginning
Bernie's pretty good about guns, not sure where Biden stands but I don't think he's Feinstein level like most of the party.
I'd vote for him. I'm not as big a fan of him as I am my district's representative but I still voted for Merkley in the last senatorial election.
"Just shoot both barrels into the air and scare them away" Biden lol. I like Sander can pull it off, but he needs a good running mate in case he croaks. God no to Cuomo or Bloomberg though, both are the worst of rich NY nanny-state twits.
I like Bernie as much as anyone but I think he's too old. I'm personally hoping to see Beto run
From an objective standpoint, 2020 should be very favorable for Democrats. Trump won because Clinton is a uniquely unlikable candidate, who used the establishment to beat back Bernie Sanders. Even though she barely acknowledged the Rust Belt, she still lost Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania by less then one point each, same as Florida. Arizona and Texas went more for Clinton in 2016 then they went for a Democrat in a long time too. However I'm really dreading 2020, 2016 changed everything and I'm scared.
When it comes to bombastic people, I think Avenatti would give Trump a run for his money.
I see Biden/O Rourke doing the best
Bernie-Biden? Or does term limits mean Biden can't be VP again?
