reminder that obsidian is a bad company https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/2246/15f265f0-36fd-4b17-b964-ff3bebf7d7ce/image.png
Upper management is certainly gonna be replaced by Microsoft guys. Is it for better or for worse - we shall see. Also wnat to note, that Avellone has left them with a lot of bad blood between him and studio, which explains why he shit-talks them every chance he gets
In a weird way, I'm kinda happy for inXile. They've always had a "third rate" aura surrounding them, feeling like they're constantly in the shadows Bethesda, Bioware and even Obsidian to some degree, despite making some absolutely stellar RPGs. Maybe this will get them the funding they need to really make some even more stellar RPGs in the future. As for Obsidian, I'm kinda mixed. Obsidian has made some of my favorite RPGs over the past decade or so, but outside of Josh Sawyer still being there to my knowledge, they kinda feel like a shell of their former selves with most of the creative talent behind those games leaving. Upper management being terrible certainly has soured general opinion I've had of them, but I respect just how skilled and talented the devs there are. I sort of hope this results in a restructuring of the management there and they get back on the right track. And yeah, this means there's absolutely no chance of another Obsidian made Fallout ever again. Not like it would be the same anyway, because as mentioned, a lot of the NV dev team has left or been laid off from Obsidian since the release of NV.
Obsidian always had crappy upper management since Neverwinter Nights 2. While Feargus seems fun person but he's quite bad at his job consider how long he's been working. The whole F:NV metacritic was their idea and not Bethesda's idea.
Good. Maybe under Microsoft the management of Obsidian can stop actively sabotaging the company and treating the employees like shit.
