Act your age, what are you, 46? 48?
Seein' as the old Hitman thread got locked apparently this seems like a good time to resurrect it again with HITMAN™ 2's release being nigh. Except for those among us, including me, who pre-ordered, who have played it since Friday.
While HITMAN™ 2 is the most relevant game on the agenda right now don't let it stop you from discussing the other games!
Games in release order:
Hitman Codename 47 (2000)
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002)
Hitman: Contracts (2004)
Hitman: Blood Money (2006)
Hitman: Absolution (2012)
HITMAN™ (2016)
HITMAN™ 2 (2018)
If you're new to the series be aware that the older titles are quite clunky and unfriendly to new players, Codename 47 especially. General consensus is that IO Interactive didn't know what kinda game they wanted Hitman to be, or didn't know how to pull it off, so Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and onward is where they found their formula. The first three games have a special kind of eurojank at times.
So what's this new game?
The story continues after HITMAN™ and follows Agent 47 around the world as he seeks to track down the Shadow Client.
New gameplay features include a suitcase to pack items into including large weaponry. Ghost Mode is a new competitive multiplayer mode for two players where you compete to assassinate randomly chosen victims, whoever kills a set number of victims fastest and cleanest wins. Special equipment cases persistent for both players' worlds litter the environment, and the two players cannot interact with each others' worlds save for one special item, the Ghost Coin.
If you haven't played HITMAN™ from 2016 you can buy HITMAN™ 2 and buy a legacy pack to receive all missions from both seasons in one game. If you already own the first game, that will carry over. Any progression you've made on unlocks or stats will need to be re-earned, however.
The Mastery progression for season 1 has been a little tossed up, some "more vital" items have been moved from Masteries to regular Challenges. That would include the Scrambler from Colorado for instance. You now get that for completing 3 Opportunities, or as they're called in this new game, "Mission Stories".
I'm only speculating now but I think the reason for the new client and new game is because of IO Interactive's split from Square Enix, if it weren't for that I'm lead to believe they'd have kept adding to HITMAN™, because they're very into having a centralized platform for all Hitman content going forward, which is only a positive thing.
Also no episodic release this time. Release is all 6 levels straight up. Two expansions are planned for 2019.

Elusive Target #1 Trailer
Elusive Targets, a controversial feature from the last game, makes a return in this installment. The first has already been announced as The Undying, featuring Sean Bean. See his trailer below. Just a note, the jury is still out on whether Season 1 Elusive Targets will be featured again. The Reddit AMA was vague on that, apparently undecided as of yet.

... Also I just spent all weekend getting Silent Assassin Suit Only on Master difficulty for all Season 1 maps. Did it for the all-black suit and silver coin.
Only up to the third real level in the second season, are all the maps this HUGE this season?
I think so! Miami was fucking labyrinthian.
I've started getting into the 2016 game to introduce myself to the series as a whole before I think about going into Hitman 2.
Jesus Christ though, rebinding keys on PC is a pain in the ass.
Hitman 2, it's finally happening! :-D
But my hard-Drive, oh how she will suffer..
60 GBs, standard right?
But when you get the legacy pack ( for previous Hitman owners ) add 45 more Gigs. Making this game 105 GBs if you want Hitman 2 plus Hitman 1, it's expansions and DLC.
There's references to Birth of a Hitman comic in some cutscenes
Holy shit this snuck up on me. Didn't think it was coming out 'til next year. How's performance for the new maps? Anything as bad as Marrakesh?
Is gtx960m and i7 good ebought to run it? I have played absolution and blood money and i am getting back to this so is it good?
On second thought I just got to the cutscene after Mumbai and I'm gonna have to say Birth of the Hitman is required reading. Without it I think some of the major information involved in the plot comes out of nowhere.
Luckily it's good reading.
Highly recommend it to anyone interested in the storyline. It's 6 issues long.
Kinda sucks that you have to reinstall the first game to get all the maps in Hitman 2. I don't have the hard drive space for all that.
Do you really? There should be a DLC thing in the library.

Although I dunno for sure, I had Hitman installed when I installed Hitman 2. I uninstalled it after the fact and kept the legacy levels.
turning Diana into a cold-blooded killer in the comics and having 47 and another kill her parents was fucking stupid and i wish that wasn't part of the games story. diana should just be that loyal and dependable mission handler who goes the extra length just to support 47 in his missions.

Playing Hitman codename 47 rn ... The kill gun supplier on his boat level can fuck right off!
I don't think the comic writers have even played a Hitman pre-Absolution, if they've even played one. It's clear they haven't played C47 because Ort-Meyer's portrayal is just all fucking wrong.
Damn dude, your post is at the top of reddit atm

I'm happy to read the comments that come in, some people claim to have bought the game because of the laughs. Hate the weirdos who say this kind of thing makes them avoid it though, makes no sense. What's not to love here?
Oh, it's on r/gaming. That'll be why I didn't see it.
I'm playing on PS4, so I don't have that luxury unfortunately.
Many a True Nerd has videos up of the prologue/tutorial and Miami. I love watching him play Hitman. He’s pretty good and entertaining while doing it.

Just bought the game, but I can't play it even though the preorder bonus says 4 days early access?
I feel like if companies are going to do that they should make the asterisk font size 40.
If you get performance issues in Mumbai and the Suburbs level turn the LOD down, it massively increases framerate
