When police arrived after reports of a shooting over the weekend at a bar outside Chicago, witnesses say Jemel Roberson, a 26-year-old security guard who worked there, had already subdued the alleged assailant, pinning him to the ground. Adam Harris, who was at Manny's Blue Bar in Robbins at the time of the incident on Sunday, told WGN-TV that Roberson was holding "somebody on the ground with his knee in his back, with his gun in his back" when officers from neighboring Midlothian got there early Sunday. Midlothian Police Chief Daniel Delaney said that's when one of his officers "encountered a subject with a gun" and shot him, according to a statement given to the media. But the "subject" was Roberson, not the suspect in the bar shooting. Witnesses say Roberson was wearing his uniform, including a hat emblazoned with the word "security," and was holding a firearm he was licensed to carry.

After security asked a group of drunken men to leave Manny’s Blue Room Bar around 4 a.m. Sunday, witnesses said someone came back with a gun and opened fire. Security returned fire, and according to witnesses, 26-year-old armed security guard Jemel Roberson apprehended one of the men involved outside.
"Everybody was screaming out, 'Security!' He was a security guard," Harris said. "And they still did their job, and saw a black man with a gun, and basically killed him."
Absolutely disgusting on the police's part.
The "good guy with a gun" argument does not apply to black men in the United States.
And he was even a uniformed security officer and was doing his job. an absolute shame, and I hope the officer who killed him is jailed for his actions.
A thing that must people fail to mention when they talk about people shooting police, is that it's most often white purple shooting black officers. The racism is so obvious yet people pretend it doesn't exist
How do you fuck up this badly.
What the fuck.
Racism maybe...
Black people just tend to alarm white police like this one, makes them nervous. Totally not racism
He'll get an especially light slap on the wrist if I had to guess.
He won't, his buddies in blue will go to great lengths to make sure he doesn't get a day in prison because they all have to look out for each other and shit like that.
