Republican Gov. Rick Scott’s senior campaign adviser, Brad Todd, repeatedly refused to commit to certifying the results of Florida’s US Senate election, during CNN interviews Monday
night and Tuesday morning, if Scott ends up losing in a recount to Democrat Bill Nelson.
“You talk about having to make a decision — the governor has a decision to make,” CNN’s Chris Cuomo said to Todd on Monday night. “Is he going to do that [certify the results] or will
he recuse himself, because of his own conflict in this?”
“The governor respects the process. He respects the law in Florida,” Todd said. “Even if he loses?” Cuomo interjected. “He’s not going to lose unless they steal it from him in court,” Todd
replied. “The governor is going to be the senator.”
Todd was pressed about those comments hours later during an interview with CNN’s John Berman, and he again refused to commit to Scott certifying the election results. “Well John,
I’m also not going to answer whether Rick Scott is gonna win the Heisman Trophy, because he’s not. But he is gonna be the senator from Florida,” Todd said, before going on to falsely
claim that Scott “has won the election.”
The results of the recount won’t be known until after it ends on Thursday. Todd’s comments leave open the possibility that Nelson wins, but Scott has repeatedly insisted that he is the
winner, regardless of what happens with a recount.
Scott has already shown a willingness to exploit his current office for political gain. During a news conference held from the governor’s mansion last Thursday evening, Scott called for
state law enforcement agencies to investigate elections officials in two Democratic-leaning counties that took longer than others to tally their ballots.
“I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida,” Scott said, without providing any evidence for his claims. “Their goal is to keep
mysteriously finding votes until the election turns out the way they want ... left-wing activists have been coming up with more and more ballots out of nowhere.”
Although Florida law enforcement and elections officials have repeatedly indicated they’ve seen no evidence of fraud, Scott and other prominent Republicans continue to baselessly
claim Nelson and his lawyers are trying to “steal” the election through a recount process that was required by Florida law.
A number of groups have called on Scott to recuse himself from the recount process due to his obvious conflict of interest, but he’s refused. The Florida Democratic Party released a
statement comparing his behavior with “Latin American dictators who have overthrown Democracies in Venezuela and Cuba.”
Tough shit. If the court finds that you infact lost, then you've lost. You can try to fight their decision, but it won't end well for you.
Also,
“I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida,” Scott said, without providing any evidence for his claims.

How not to react in a dignified manor if you lose an election... way to take a similar page from Trump's book. Sad Scott!
The easiest and best way would be for him to swallow his pride and just have him certify the results regardless of the outcome. Be a man and do what is right, don't scamper off thinking the office is yours. That's no longer possible considering he has already shown he won't work toward what reality is. If he can recuse himself, he should do so immediately or go into the 21st century's chapter for Florida's electoral highlights right above the 2000 General Election (because while it was hinky, at least Bush himself didn't have a position of power in Florida).
His brother did though.
Which is why I specified Bush himself. Besides, that problem was dropped on its head when the US Supreme Court intervened anyway. Scott is still sitting governor and stirring the pot.
Alright fellow children, the lesson is, if you conduct yourself like an obstructive asshole, make up everything that you say, and act like fucking crybaby when things don't go your way; you'll eventually get everything you want. Thanks Grandpa Trump for teaching all of the world these important life lessons.
Another Trumpster Fire needing put out.
Man this dude must be an absolute fucking loser because he stacked the deck in his favour and the election still went to a recount
It's moments like these where people like Rick Scott play a game called "put the shoe on the other foot"
How about a game of "put my boot up your ass until you can taste steel-toe" ?
Rick Scott partying before he finds out about the recount

You forgot the important part, which is being rich first.
Making sure each vote was properly counted.
Fucking liberal scam ruining this country.
We are going down an extremely dangerous road right now.
The GOP found out that Trump is actually really bad for their congressional chances, if Clinton was president they'd keep their majority and would be looking at a 60 Senate supermajority. They can't dump Trump
so they have to rig the elections.
I hope this ugly fucking circumcised penis looking bastard loses the election. You've fucked our state good and well enough from Tallahassee, Scott. I don't think you're going to actually make a meaningful difference in Washington, besides continuing to sell out our country to oil and gas lobbyists.
I thought the headline said Ross Scott for a minute
Scott has always been like this, lol. If anything, Trump's been acting like Scott.
As much as I'd rathered Hillary have won, an increasingly large part of me has come to the conclusion that Trump needed to happen. 1940s Germany was one thing. Bush and Nixon were another. But this? People would never have believed this could happen on American soil - the very country who is seen for "vanquishing" the Nazis - until it actually happened. In this day and age, there are far too many people who substitute knee-jerk skepticism and rampant apathy for intellectualism and levelheadedness. The kind of people who would never believe a worst-case scenario is even likely - let alone plausible - until it hits them in the goddamn face. And Republicans have used that deniability and incredulity to their advantage for years even as they work in broad daylight, because everyone's convinced the world's too "normal" now for anything of this caliber to go wrong, all while the dominoes line up right in front of them. Think of how few people went out and voted in 2016 because Hillary supposedly had this in the bag. This was the wake-up call and why 2018 was now the largest-turnout midterm in over a century.
The worst-case scenario has happened: an actual American Nazi Party had taken control of government. "It can't happen here" won't fly anymore because now it has happened here. But as a result? The rest of America took notice and finally got off their asses, and that's why we now have the House back with a very formidable margin. And that's why the GOP is panicking and cheating their asses off, because America's antibodies have awakened and those bastards are right in the crosshairs.
