I think the whole idea that people only buy EV's because they want to feel smug and pompous has long passed. Sure, that was the whole stereotype of the early adopters with stuff like the Prius, but I don't think that's a fair assumption anymore. EV's get good range, look nice, and are fun to drive. Just the other day I had a conversation with a friend who has put 40,000 miles daily driving a Fiat 124 Spider. He's a huge Italian car buff, wants to get a Giulia one day. But he told me bought a (presumably used) Volt as a secondary to save some cash and take some work off his Fiat. Then he also said he test drove a Tesla Model 3 Performance and said it was fucking amazing. Said it was a dangerously fun car with its acceleration.

EV's have matured past the pompous.
