In a 10-minute segment titled “The Freshman Insurrection,” the “Ingraham Angle” host predicted that “dark, pink clouds” were gathering on the horizon with the arrival of Congresswomen-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (the youngest woman ever elected to Congress), Ayanna Pressley (Massachusetts’ first black congresswoman), Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar (the first Muslim women elected to Congress).
Ingraham, who ahead of the midterms repeatedly urged her audience to vote Republican or face an invasion of immigrants, dubbed the quartet “the four horsewomen of the apocalypse” and expressed doubt about their ability to work with other Democrats.
She further accused the “progressive upstarts” of holding “the most radical views in Congress” — such as advocating for free college and health care for all ― and mocked them for posing for this “squad” photograph:
I.e. uncontroversial views even among conservative parties in much of the civilized world,
I am not at all surprised something like 95% of Congressional Republicans are white.
Reminder: Laura Ingraham was the one who made an "Ingraham Angle" at an RNC rally:

I, as well as many others, am truly thankful that there are more people like me, representing me in government now. Hopefully this trend picks up more speed.
Sadly about as many are offended that marginalized groups have more representation now.
Oh poo, better whip out the tissue boxes!
Most of these conservatives have a different relationship to liberalism though. I don't know how people can simultaneously appeal to America's foundational liberalism when it comes to immigration policy, then turn around and praise Europe's welfarism. The latter exists in part because of how their conservatism is very different.
To some extent we are to the right of Europe, otherwise it's an apples and oranges comparison that's used to distort. It's part of having your cake and eating it too, where people can celebrate a move to the left while telling opponents there's no such thing. That it's just about catching up to Europe, a post-Reagan correction, etc.
She was saluting a jumbotron with Trump's face on it. Ingraham seems to be competing with Carlson to see who can be the most overtly racist.
Ah yes, clearly we should just maintain the homogeneous old, white congressmen quota that’s been working so well lately, eh, Frau Ingram?
What is it with young blond women and being fascists?
She's in her fifties.
So the Democrats at least roughly equally represent different ethnicities somewhere close to the general populace and Republicans are like 99% old white guys? Well that's a totally unexpected surprise! Though I do wonder how much of it comes from those other ethnicities being significantly more likely to support Democratic policies and how much comes from Republican voters all too often refusing to vote for anyone who isn't a white man.
Is this the fabled white genocide?
She looks like she realizes "Oh fuck I'm on TV" right after throwing that first "salute".
No. When nations who spend less money on healthcare (even less public money), have healthier citizens, and all major political parties are in agreement that it works, it's absolutely 100% not an apples to oranges comparison. America healthcare system is literally broken and out of date.
oh god the pinkos are coming! the horror, the unbelievable horror!
What is it with young-looking blond women and being fascist?
Must be all those Juvenat procedures.
its more a case that fascists seek out young blond women who will parrot their ideas. Remember Tomi Lauren? She stepped just one foot out of line and was tossed out of the conservative media sphere.

If the rainbow rain hits you you turn into the B I G gay
Different interpretations of the same value. The right see it as a freedom to choose between having healthcare or not having healthcare, and keeping the government out of their lives. The left doesn't see this as much of a choice and believes everyone will be more free if they just have healthcare and never need to worry about sudden bankruptcy by medical bill.
I honestly figured this was just a dumb mistake on her part for a while, like who would be dumb enough to pull off a nazi salute that openly(?), but with shit like what she said here, I actually think she may attend neo-nazi rallies lol
At this point I'd argue that it's not so much a broken and out of date system as much as it is a nonexistent system
As far as I'm concerned, the United States does not have a healthcare system in place. The closest it has to what you would call an actual public healthcare system akin to the NHS or Canada's system is the VA
The US mostly just has financial aid programs. Federal money is used to pay off insurance providers for those who can't afford it. It's a big part of why these programs collectively consume more than the entire US defense budget annually. It's not that healthcare is expensive, it's that insurance is expensive, and it's made even more because there's a great big price fixing game going on in US healthcare right out in the open, it's how you get two hundred dollar bags of saline and fifty dollar band aids. Insurance providers and hospitals are frequently in each other's pockets
