Quite frankly, the U.S. is the only party to the convention that appears to be willing to push a rational discussion on the role of cleaner, more efficient fossil (fuels) disbelief.jpg
"its a little broken, but its still good!" *falls apart even more *
Oh that picture is too easy. "This. Is how big my dick is. As you can see, it's yuge."
"U.N climate talks" "put on a sideshow on coal" This literally reads like an onion headline, how can anyone be so brazenly oblivious to how well this will go down.

Just found a leaked slide https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/211551/71caca84-7a92-4366-817f-552ea8a107c9/LeakedSlide.png
>“Quite frankly, the U.S. is the only party to the convention that appears to be willing to push a rational discussion on the role of cleaner, more efficient fossil (fuels) and the role of civilian nuclear energy,” said one of the sources, who is involved in the planning of the event for Katowice, likely to be held on Dec. 10. > >The source, who did not want to be named due to the sensitive nature of the issue, said the event will be dominated by proponents of coal and natural gas and likely advanced nuclear power, too. The panel will also likely feature a U.S. Energy Department representative. At this point plans do not include a renewable power industry representative, the source said. The source isn't exactly wrong broadly speaking, however with the context of the event and the administration, I can hardly take such a rosy opinion. You can make a very efficient coal power plant with scrubbers, combined cycles, and other improvements to the rankine cycle (or other cycles). I won't use the word clean, or cheap in conjunction with it, but you can. Bonus points if it works co-generation into the mix. However you can perform many of the same improvements to other fossil fuels which are more efficient from the outset. Replacing everything with renewable energy isn't feasible at the moment, as both wind and solar have peaks and falls. Hydro and Tidal are location dependent, and nuclear isn't suitable for every location. IMO, discussing fossil fuels is fine so long it is done within the context how to situate them with renewables (nuclear is a different beast). However, I highly doubt this convention accomplishes that.
again?
Isn’t our coal industry actually failing? Like, didn’t a bunch of coal miners that voted R get laid of thanks to Big T?

As of right now: Arby's employs more people in the US than the entire coal industry; and while Arby's is hiring more people, the coal industry is laying off more people.
perception is greater than fact. Trump alone saying he's made things better makes them think he's made things better.
Absolute disgrace.
Boy, this is gonna be hilarious. I hope the U.N. give it a merciless reception and afterwards Trump tries to rationalize the laughing/booing as "we're just havin' fun, they all agree with me on this.".
But Chair Noble! And what about Fuck a Shema? great examples of New Clear's holocaust
I would love if the entire room erupted in laughter during U.S.'s presentation.
Didn't Trump flirt with nuclear power as one of his campaign talking points and then immediately drop it? I wouldn't trust him to bother caring about upkeep of current nuclear plants, let alone push to create new ones.
Trump isn't doing this out of some informed view of the situation. He's doing it 100% because of his lobbyist friends. If he does something right it's always completely accidental and always for the wrong reasons. Don't start praising a broken clock just because it's right twice a day.
Y'know I heard some folks say some things about coal. I've heard folks say some really bad things about it. Things that are totally wrong and, y'know, people in the industry tell me that the impact on the environment that coal has is completely exaggerated and they've been telling me that coal is much cleaner, in fact, it's the cleanest it's ever been. All they do is dig up that dirty coal and just clean it *makes rubbing motion* and it creates power, a whole lot of power, enough to power all of Washington DC hahaha. Now look at China, they don't clean their coal, that's what people tell me, they burn more dirty coal than they ever have. Let me ask you something: What does America gain by throwing away clean coal when China powers their entire continent with dirty coal? Nothing. The UN bureaucrats don't know how to make deals, I know how to make deals, I've done it my whole life, you can see for yourself how great the deals I make are and what I'm told is that the liberals who spread this story of climate change don't know that if you want people to do something, especially a proud and powerful people like us, you have to ask nicely, they don't know how to make deals, they're not asking nicely, they didn't even ask, they just tell us what to do or else... or else what? Now the democrats Obama and Hillary and the fake news have been lying that doing away with CLEAN COAL is going to stop the ice caps from melting but I still see plenty of ice every year. Are they telling us that if it snows, it's not real because it should be rain? Huh. Having a rational discourse about power generation is important but Trump might as well send Bob Murray in his stead in terms of actually contributing to the discussion.
Nah, you're actually imagining that.
That would be all well and good if they were only talking about the benefits of nuclear. But they're more concerned about clean coal which is a ridiculous concept.
