I just found this while following YouTube recommendations about random shit and had a fucking literal flashback. This was like finding baby videos of myself randomly uploaded to YouTube. I don't even have access to that Minecraft account anymore, and I haven't played in 5 years or more.
This is (apparently) the first documented video of the Minecraft anarchy survival server 2b2t, way back in beta. This is seven and a half years old - I was 15 when this was recorded. I don't know if anyone on Facepunch who played this back in the day is still around, but I just wanted to share this in case anybody else who played on 2b2t would find it cool to go this far back. I have chezhead on Steam, but he hasn't been online in almost 2 years, and everyone else has changed their names a million times, so I don't know where else to share this.
I joined back in 2011, seven years ago. I never joined the FP base though.
Damn, so much nostalgia, I recognize a lot of those names. I love the idea of playing modern Minecraft multiplayer, but it really just doesn't feel the same, I remember playing back during some of the first initial builds of the game and it was all about building. Now servers have a million mods and server tools, I'm not saying they're not a good thing, but I definitely miss the days of just building cool things with friends and exploring other people's creations.
I've still never played minecraft with mods
Some of the mods are actually really creative, they add things like sophisticated factory automation and more complicated mining mechanics, but I never found them fun in multiplayer. There are modpacks that include hundreds of mods, and they can be pretty entertaining but I somewhat prefer keeping the base feeling of Minecraft intact. Many of the modern modpacks include these massive in-depth mods that are great on their own, or even with a couple of other mods, but some of them are getting to the point where you have hundreds of complicated mods. It makes it hard to enjoy playing when you basically need to pick and choose a few mods to make it worth your time.
Ever since the 'veteran' queue was removed I haven't played on the server. Shame too, I really liked to explore it
Oh man I remember the obsidian swastikas and giant n-words at spawn
lmao shit, i just realized edgy teen me says the n word at the end, delete this neffew
Wasn't there also a Vice article?
Facepunch ftw
I'm the last facepunch
Oh man I loved 2b2t.
Crazy to think that was 8 years ago.
Yeah I was on there, but I went off way into the distance with a different facepuncher to build a fort. Turned out pretty well iirc.
Server's still around and has always been chugging, and chugging being the key point. Dynamic definitely has changed though, that's for sure.
I don't like the new queue stuff.
Heck, I feel the server lost a lot it's charm after it got that massive popularity boost recently.
So many old-timers left.
Now it's full of people like the guy who went around bumping all our 2b2t threads, thinking he can be part of the legendary Facepunch clan or whatever he's imagining.
Yeah I actually hopped on a year or so back due to the "Rusher Invasion" shit because the vids were popping up in my recommended. It's totally not my taste anymore. You couldn't make out a single sentence in chat because it was moving so fast and anything you could make out was "NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER DICK IN MY BUTT FUCK THE JEWS".
I had veteran queue though which was pretty cool.
Why i was ban ?
