I loved MGS1 when I played it as a kid, but I literally have no idea what is going on in this video 90% of the time. Like, why do things explode all the time? Why does a cargo container explode? Why is Liquid Snake doing random back-flips when meeting Snake? I have a really bad memory, obviously, but I don't remember a lot of the weird stuff here. 'twas very funny though.
This is The Twin Snakes, which is a Gamecube remake of Metal Gear Solid. If you don't remember any of this crap it means you've played the original MGS on the Playstation.
best part is how snake has no chill when the dude forgets the thing
I know that. That's why I said MGS1, although I could have been more specific by saying "Tactical Espionage Action", I suppose.
The choreographer for all the future MGS games started with the Twin Snakes remake, and Kojima told him to go as crazy as possible.
Actually what happened is that Kojima hired Japanese film director and writer Ryuhei Kitamura, who’s known for his over-the-top action style, to direct the cutscenes for the game. Originally, he made them as close as possible to the original game’s cutscenes, but then Kojima asked him to redo them all in his signature style, hence the crazy shit you see in the video.
Does he not do them for future games as well? I just had the profession wrong.
No he does not. He definitely influenced the style of cutscenes in future games, but he was not involved with any of them. In fact, Twin Snakes is the only thing he’s done regarding anything Video Games.
Okay.
I love Twin Snakes but man the cutscenes could get goofy.
I'd like to think this is how Otacon tells people how the events of Metal Gear Solid really went down.
Just like one of his Japanese Animes.
Imagining a scenario where Snake is telling Raiden about specifically the Hind D rocket-jump and Raiden wanting to do that one day.
Then it cuts to any one of the MGR boss fights.
