In a blog post, Maher was dismissive to the news of Lee's death, mocking those who are currently mourning the recently-departed industry legend, citing, "Deep, deep mourning for a man who inspired millions to, I don’t know, watch a movie, I guess."
Maher then insulted adults who still actively partake in reading comics, even going as far as to try and draw a connection between comic book readers and the election of President Donald Trump, saying, "I don’t think it’s a huge stretch to suggest that Donald Trump could only get elected in a country that thinks comic books are important."

Complaining about comic books and saying they're only for kids? What year is it?
He's just being an edgelord. Whoever looks at someone's death and responds by degrading their achievements is just someone seeking attention
Maher has, and always will be, a gigantic cunt.
"comics were for kids, and when you grew up you moved on to big-boy books without the pictures."
"But then twenty years or so ago, something happened – adults decided they didn’t have to give up kid stuff," he said. "And so they pretended comic books were actually sophisticated literature."
"I don’t think it’s a huge stretch to suggest that Donald Trump could only get elected in a country that thinks comic books are important," he wrote.
how ironic. if there's any line of thinking that i'd picture being in a trump supporter's head, this is it.
"More people cared about Stan Lee’s death than care about Bill Maher alive."
Gaiman showing no mercy there.
I had forgotten about Bill Maher. Probably why it's high time he said something fucking stupid to get his name noticed again.
I don't even know who this guy is
This guy was literally in Iron Man 3 yet he says comics are dumb.
How can you take a check from Marvel but still take the time to say comics are worthless?
A lot of older folk tend to think like that. "You're a man now, man up manly man". Also applies to other drawn mediums like cartoons and anime.
Literally the only reason anyone paid attention to him was that he talked shit about christianity and republicans when it was considered less culturally acceptable to do so on mainstream television. These days the average millenial is just as biting in their criticism of organized religion and conservative orhodoxy, while also not being a complete cunt.
I have absolutely no clue who Bill Maher is, but according to Wikipedia his only claim to fame seems to be that he hosts a talk show and has never married... makes sense.
And as a side note: Remember that time Stan Lee dressed up as Revolver Ocelot to present Hideo Kojima an award? I do.

Old man who is reviled by millions tries to take a public shit on a grave of another old man who was beloved by millions.
He's always trying to be the guy in the room that says what everyone's thinking. When it works, he comes off as unapologetic. When he gets it wrong, he assumes everyone else agrees with him but doesn't realize it yet. It's ego, he could put his voice to good use, except he never questions himself on anything and is, frankly, flat-out delusional on some topics
Because making money means way more than morals
Bill Maher is an unfunny jackass whose HBO show should've been cancelled before Obama took office.
He's right you know.
That's a fucking murder if I ever saw one, jesus christ.
Bill Maher's just the American version of Piers Morgan.
Bad part is that Maher hasn't been punched in the face.
If a country like America where comics are treated like something for children would elect Trump based on that I wonder what crazy person a country like France where comics are considered high art would elect.
I wish Zing was still a rating.
I especially hate how he tries to just make fun of people that don't like things, then somehow believes whatever he doesn't like shouldn't be liked. He's one of the most painfully hypocritical people I've ever seen.
I'd say you could add Italy, Finland, Japan, and the UK to that list, but considering the direction a lot of states are headed I'm not sure I should be throwing stones like that.
The Trump comment is really fucking stupid when you take into account that Stan's characters were mostly about accepting people who were different and who often faced oppression, anyone who cared about Stan's comics and the stories it told would see how Stan would completely hate Trump's guts and everything he stands for.
What a completely fucking retarded thing to say on almost every level, jesus christ what an idiot.
Bill Maher seems like one of the most pretentious people I've ever met. The clips I've seen of his show, his default tone is obnoxious condescension.
People obsessed with maturity tend to be the most immature.
So I guess Maher is one of the people who think you should stop having fun when you grow up? For a lot people things like reading comics, collecting action figures, and ETC is the only way they can escape a reality which is more often than not, quite shitty.
Maher is just a perfect example of someone with absolutely no imagination whatsoever.
A positive outcome from this is that a ton of people are coming out on Twitter to talk shit about Bill Maher.
I liked Bill Maher during my edgy teenage years. Guess that shows what kind of audience he has.
