This is extra sad, because there is some real progress happening with LGBT stuff in Ukraine (relatively speaking, for eastern europe). I hope that this is just an unhappy event on the path upwards, not an indication that the trends are being reversed.

Apparently the police did nothing to stop these morons either and instead starting pepper-spraying activists and removing them.
Unfortunately I fear these activists are going to face more violent hurdles like this in the coming years. I'm glad that they're trying but anti-LGBT sentiment is so cemented over there. I feel really bad for
them. It reminds me of what happened over here during the Civil Rights movement in terms of police siding with bad people.

It's because some people are such limp-dicked little babies that they literally can't exist unless they're subjugating someone else.
They're too stupid or hateful to make it on their own merits so they take their frustration over their own inadequacies out on people who don't deserve it to avoid having to confront the fact that they're abject failures in every aspect of human society.
They're the repulsive, disgusting dregs of society and the sooner we stop assigning a level of humanity to them that they've so clearly discarded and start excising them like a cancer, the better.
Whilst I can see and understand the genesis of right-wingers' political views sometimes, I will never be able to understand this. It legitimately sickens me. The fact far-right people see 40 people protesting peacefully on this issue as threatening is also perplexing. Fine, support your neo-Nazi agenda if you must, but leave everybody else in peace and argue for your 'ideas' using rational discourse like most people do, or at least attempt to.
How would you "excise" them without going to jail?

Hurt to type that. Sadly, I have come across many people who have unironically uttered that on many forums. It's baffling how many nuts get brainwashed into this type of mindset.

That always confuses me, because how do you explain people who had no outside influences(internet, trans people on tv) and living in a 3rd world country searching for help to treat their gender issues? I guess they have to move to goalposts like "its the devil who got into them" instead when you point that out.
Sometimes, when I'm feeling stupid, like I'm wont to do periodically, I just look at comments on Fox News videos on YouTube and realise I may not be that stupid, after all.
Do these retards not realize that THEY are the dysfunctional ones. Even if we were to buy into their delusional mindset for a second and assume that transgender people are the plague of society and a dysfunction, the people who did this are MORE dysfunctional because they are the ones who are belligerent and aggressive while transgender people practically never are.
I really do not get what makes people so fucking wired whenever someone does something that is sexually nonstandard or gender non standard, the people so vehemently against it are the fucked up ones, especially given the infinitesimally small number of LGBT people in human societies.
Events like these are a reminder of what happens when you get complacent and stop fighting for universal human rights, anywhere, anytime. Conservatives will lie, use euphemisms, and construct parallel narratives, but under the surface all they really want to do is create a world in which they're free to terrorize minorities. Any person who comes on this website to defend the actions of right wing governments such as Trump's administration as they attack the rights of trans people are arguing in bad faith. This is the true logical end: physical violence against the icky ones.

One of the biggest problem with dehumanizing people who are assholes is that you're implying that humans can't be assholes. Being an asshole is part of the human condition. People have been ousting 'the other' for as long as there has been humans. The only way to try to mitigate human dick-ishness is to start by acknowledging that it is fundamentally human and you need to come up with human solutions to it.
Ukraine's in a turmoil and it isn't safe anymore after the Crimean crisis. It's surreal to think that war is faught quite close to me, on European continent. It's no suprise such shit happens there, situation in the country enables the radicak ones to act. Radicalism is a plague and with another plague called nationalism it's devastating to everyone. Terrible.

I didn't mean that. I said that it put Ukraine further into crisis, which sparked a more violent and radical organizations and/or individuals. Attacks such as these are due to political and economical situation in Ukraine. Of course there are a lot more factors to this, like here in Poland, but the difference is such violent ones do happen due to the situation in Ukraine, I believe.

Sometimes the overwhelming nature of how fucked up everything is just gets to me and I start feeling like it's this big desperate thing that needs drastic measures to be corrected. Normally I put a lid on it, take a step away from the news and the internet, go outside and get a fresh reminder that not everyone is an evil asshole, and come back feeling reassured. I failed to do that last night and this was the result. I'm embarrassed.
