One of the most important games of all time turned 20 today. To some degree we're all here because of Half-Life and its legacy.

artifact comes out tomorrow right?
if I had known my fav company would turn out like this
most of the people who cared there have already moved on to greener pastures (and nicer workplaces (hopefully))
Live footage of the Half-Life franchise in Gabe's mind:

I honestly don't even fucking know what half life is doing inside of gabe's mind. I have no idea if he is the main evil mastermind in this scenario or if he is more of a jaded reluctantly obedient community manager who secretly hates what his company has turned into but nevertheless upholds his principles of giving people free will of what they are interested in.
Does he simply no longer care and simply does not have the heart to shut the shit down? I have no idea.
A fucking card game.
Anyway, thanks for the memories..
Atleast we still have the modding tools and the ability to make new shit for the games.
It's no coincidence that Valve only recently hit their rebellious phase.
what if HL3 is coming out on HL's 21st birthday and its HL3 but gordon is piss drunk the whole game
mfw we won't get hl3, the hl anniversary was trashed with artifact stuff and Valve doesn't produce such games like half life anymore

It would be completely jawdropping and mental stupor inducing.
Well, this was the last milestone I was holding out hope for. It was now or never, basically. So I guess never it is.
RIP Half-Life
On a more positive note, HL1 is still undoubtedly one of the best first person shooters ever made. And let's not forget the modding scene, you essentially got a plethora of other games with the same package. That's not a case today with most products out there.
I'd say something about Gabe, but I'm starting to wonder if he's even really in control of what the company does anymore, with the flat structure of it and whatnot.
Valve is still making games! Don't you worry a thing. They've got, uh, some indie companies they bought out. And bootleg Hearthstone.
Pay up for those cards, paypig.
they fucked up, big time
Instead of lamenting the current sorry state of the series, let's instead use this opportunity to remember HL's achievements and hope for a brighter future where gordon freeman has a job again.

This is one of the things I remember the most from Half Life 2. I remember entering the apartment where you hear it the first time and I was so blown away by the atmosphere of the game.
My definite favorite video game franchise, ever.
