I think Franco-German alliance/friendship remains one of the most beautiful, unexpected and enriching things to had happened in the world. Two regional powers that were to each others' throats for centuries, even millenia became the best economical and political partners that sparked what is now EU. A century ago, it would be considered a madmanscraft.
I find it funny how we have Stalin of all people to thank for peace in western europe as everyone sided against his bullshit.
