This was linked on the steam event page with "???" it's also streaming on the official Civ youtube channel http://twitch.tv/firaxisgames
Seems soon for a new Civ, maybe a new expansion. Firaxis usually does 2 expansions for Civ no?
Good point.
There have been rumors that a new expansion for VI called "Vesuvius" would be announced before the end of the year, so I'd wager it's something to do with that.
yeah, likely to do with the expansion leaks. natural disasters and stuff for the ocean are what have been supposedly leaked so far.
I wish we could edit titles.
Bold Prediction: a fuckin nuke is going to drop on this city and it's going to be the reveal of a Civilization Post-Apocalypse spin-off game. Every mainline civ game has had at least one spinoff, and Civ 6 has't had one yet.
It's not going to be a nuke, it's going to be some sort of natural disaster. I'm calling it now.
If those are buildings at the bottom I'm expecting a meteor
Agreed, natural disasters incoming
I think the skies have gotten darker?
Civ 5 is still best
I have trouble wrapping my head around 6, so I keep going back to 5 instead lol. Then again I'm too dumb for strategy games anyway so what do I know
I like how people are trying to keep like/dislike ratio on balance in stream chat.
the sky has gotten darker again seems like there's a sudden change every 2 hours
I think the lowest layer of clouds might actually be smoke.
its most likely a civ expansion but jake solomon is also working on a new IP
Might be captain obvious at this point but it looks like a Hurricane. Possibly rolling in in real time.
the clouds have gotten way thicker.
I genuinely think I'm brain-dead because Civ 6 makes no sense to me. I can't even win a game on Settler with Civ 6 because it seems like the AI is always ahead of me with everything, and I'm not sure what the general strategy should be, no matter how many videos I watch. Civ 5, meanwhile, is my shit and I locked down the customs & protocol within about an hour. Also, I'm not a fan of Civ 6's Leader personalities that mean that if you meet the conditions that make AI #01 like you, AI #02 hates you. At least with Civ 5, you know from Day 1 that Napoleon is a backstabbing fuck and Theodora is a pushover, but you can deal with both distinct 'personalities' at the same time. There's certainly situations in Civ 5 where not everyone is going to agree with what you do (Genghis will like fellow warmongers, Gandhi loathes them), but that's based on conduct with other civilisations, rather than the 'You don't have a navy? Ew, cuck' AI approach of Civ 6.
Seems to snow or rain periodically.
There’s tornados now
There's a countdown now!
The site partially updated a few hours ago and gave us a release date, February 14th https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/108621/98352adf-d578-4ecf-a7d5-97c97895e250/image.png
Cool beans, maybe in just 2 more years I can finally decide to pick up the Complete Edition
Here are the leaks from Vesuvius from a couple weeks ago https://i.redd.it/qc2ys13ll8v11.png https://i.redd.it/jomwetiwl8v11.png https://i.redd.it/tnp3hx53m8v11.png
This stream apparently confirms some leaks that came out a couple of days ago, that this expansion will be called "Gathering Storm", deal with natural disasters, climate change, as well as adding in mechanics for managing power and adding additional governments in the future era. Plus new civs, of course. Neat.
I was gonna call 'climate change' due to the smog, looks like the above pic almost confirms that.
Corporate Libertarianism future government, aw HELL YEAH. I can play my civ out as cyberpunk babyyyyy.
CANADA?! FUCKING FINALLY
