Dont nintendo usually do heaps or spinoff games? Not all of them will appeal to all of the fans.
they don't sounds like fans at all
I for one think they need to change the game a lot. It's all the same exact thing over and over again. Hopefully with the switch we can get a real next gen Pokemon game
I would ask if these fucking morons know that there is a core game in development but evidently, they don't.
well they are fanatic, that's for sure.
On one hand this seems pretty dumb but on the other hand I'm hearing that this is like the Paper Mario: Sticker Star of Pokemon games so they have my sincere sympathy.
I frankly don’t see the problem. The spin offs strike me as sort of a tech demo. To see what game freak can get away with on the Switch by rebuilding Gen 1. Plus there’s the inherent connection to Pokémon Go so this might also be their attempt to integrate Pokemon Go players into the series. Also correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t game freak have a gen 8 Pokémon game slated for the Switch sometime next year?
Can someone clear up the combat system for me once and for all: Is it the classic turn based combat with random encounters and trainer battles, or is it that god awful combat system from pokemon go where you mash the screen over and over
I like it. Definitely does the job of serving as an entry to the series for people who played GO. Honestly like the overworld mons and capture mechanic, just wished it had abilities, fighting all wild mons rather than a select few, held items, and better online cheat detection.
It's the former. And that's not necessarily a great thing either. I'm seeing tons of complaints that that classic turn-based system is incredibly stale by this point. There are good examples of how to pull off turn-based JRPG combat in a modern game (COUGH COUGH PERSONA 5) but Pokemon really isn't one of them.
Personally I'm a fan of the turn based system That doesn't sound TOO bad, as long as you don't run out of trainer battles to do... it also sounds like the leveling would be more linear, if you've got a set amount of trainers to battle. How do they compensate for that? Do trainers just respawn when you leave and re-enter an area? Are trainers randomly generated?
These are the growing pains of a franchise that grown adults mostly like because they grew up with them. A generation of fans of the Pokemon games have grown up, but the franchise itself hasn't become any more adult in the process, and so the newer ones seem less appealing. Arguably, this could apply to Star Wars as well, and countless other franchises.
It's a pretty good remake of yellow with simplified catching. 7.35/10 fight me.
Plenty of battles in the post game with "Master Trainers" (who have one high level pokemon with a semi-competitive moveset and you're limited to fighting them with the same one species you've raised, 153 trainers total one for each pokemon) and of course there's online, but not too much postgame content. No way to rematch trainers AFAIK like the other remakes. Catching Pokemon gives your whole team experience and there's a mechanic for chaining catches of the same species to up the chance for ones with better stats, shiny or rarer pokemon. I haven't needed to grind once but if you for some reason want to beat Misty with a level 100 Pikachu you can farm Chansey in Cerulean cave pretty quickly compared to the normal games' way of grinding.
all this could be alleviated if game freak would just add some goddamn difficulty modes and challenging post-game content to their games
My hope is that this dedicated game for newcomers will mean the next mainline Pokemon game won't be bloated with 3 hours of tutorials for the most basic shit in the world.
I'd be interested in seeing how implementing a difficulty setting in a Pokemon game would even be possible considering how online interactions are so integral to the franchise. I would imagine just increasing the levels of your opponent's Pokemon would unbalance the game since you'd theoretically receive more exp per battle.
I am really getting fed up of review bombs.
Just another reason why rating games with just numbers is completely pointless especially when users get involved. I really like the way steam does it, especially with long term games like GTA5. Gives you an overall appraisal, what reviews have been like in the last few weeks and you can scroll down and see the most helpful and most recent reviews side by side. Console E-Shops need to take on a rating system like that.
They're like Star Wars fans, they love to hate the thing they claim to love.
Uhhh it's a kid's game? It's like if you bought a Kirby game and bitched cause it was too easy. Not saying there's anything wrong with playing these games, but it's simplistic nature shows it's intended audience is kids.
My problem is that it's $60. I don't think it's worth a full price for half the Pokemon game. It devalues the franchise. But I'm voting with my wallet and not like a child.
I gave it a try and it's probably my favorite in the series. Don't get me wrong it's way too easy and clearly meant for younger audiences, but the game respects your god damn time. No more Zubats every 3 feet in caves, no more abilities and hidden abilities, and it's way faster to capture Pokemon.
It's turn based but the system has been stripped down. Abilites have been disabled, candies make all of your pokemon overpowered, items are gone entirely. Catching is Pokemon Go style.
Pokemon Black 2 had a hard mode you unlocked once you beat the Champion of the Elite Four. Oddly Pokemon White 2 unlocked an Easy Mode instead, but if you had a friend with Black you could unlock both in each others' game. The hard mode raised enemy levels, IVs, AI, added some new Pokemon to teams, and changed around some more sets and items of enemies. The easy mode made the enemy AI dumber and their Pokemon lower level. Iwish they brought that back but made it available at the start.
I think they feel that this will become the core but who knows. This is gonna be bundled with switches at some point and sell like crazy.
I mean i have friends who bought it, playing it casually, not taking to seriously and they enjoy it. My friend’s final verdict was “it’s very charming, cute, and happy”
It's a pretty great game overall. Some of the stuff is a bit too simple I guess but it's still fun. Also, training Pokemon with the Pokeball thing is pretty fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i8Gvk3NPHw
I am really enjoying this game more than I thought. Tho I am having trouble staying at a high enough level for gyms. Grinding is just catching pokemon, but since you gotta buy pokeballs, it can end up costing a ton of money to level up. Plus catching pokemon doesn't give you as much EXP as it used too. Anyone playing, know of a good way to level up? Trainer fights haven't been too helpful.
