That's what will be suspended.
Saudis are so livid even the page is shaking
Its funny because its only the saudi article thats shaking
Won't they just buy them from somewhere else?
Suppliers of systems affected by the ban will probably shift to US or UK alternatives It's worth mentioning though that the Saudis have 0 industrial base currently for maintaining all of their Western sourced aircraft, vehicles and other systems, we hold significant sway over their military since we can just deny spare parts to them Also most of their ground crews and maintainers are western contractors
I wonder if Sweden, if we are exporting to the Saudis, will stop as well. I'm not that knowledgeable to be honest but I hope we will, if we do are exporting weapons to them.
From what I can see, Sweden indeed does export weapons to Saudi Arabia. It also seems to be the last of the Scandinavian countries to do so. https://euobserver.com/tickers/143185
Better late than never I guess. The Yemen thing has been a problem for a while. Sadly the US won't do anything remotely like this
Bofors, SAAB Defense, Hägglunds (now part of BAE Systems International) all export weapons, defensive measures and surveillance tools to dictatorships. It is unfortunately the dark side of our very successfull and innovative military industry. As far as I know we won't stop these exports anytime soon however some politicians (within all parties) are strongly against it but like with everything else there will always be an endless debate untill action is taking.
