Good, Amazon working conditions are absolutely ridiculous.
too bad workers in the US can't unionize anymore thanks to the severe limitations imposed on unions over the last 60 years
That has to be a huge blow for the company
Unfortunately not really. The website stays up, there's just going to be shipping delays.
Strike would be a perfect response to the kind of hell US employees have to go through on black friday
They did this during Amazon Day as well. Amazon pulled in record profits. Consumers don't care, they're not personally impacted and their ability to be has been abstracted.
I am confused on why they chose black friday to do this instead of some bigger day such as the last day to get something sent to you in time before christmas (something that would actually tick people off). They are in fulfillment, it does not impact sales AT ALL if there is no hard deadline.
Not for long, soon enough they'll Automate every conceivable thing they can, the less profitable the workers are the faster this will happen.
To Amazon, that's their biggest problem...
With black friday you only target rampant consumerism and amazon. If you do it on christmas you face multiple disadvantages: You have to organize people to be active around christmas limiting their own christmas time You risk alienating the public from your goals if you cause them emotional distress by accidentally sabotaging their christmas. If you get paid more for working holidays then it makes more financial sense to boycott black friday since this is much less likely to effect the bottom line of amazon employees that are protesting.
