Agent has become somewhat of a joke the past 11 years or so since its announcement. The Rockstar Games-developed title never really got anything more than a small
announcement back during Sony’s E3 2009 press conference. Now in 2018, it seems like the chances we’ll ever see the title are next to none, as a few days ago, Take-Two Interactive
abandoned the trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
According to the update on the trademark, which can be viewed here, the agency says that the trademark was abandoned due to there being “no Statement of Use or Extension
Request timely filed after Notice of Allowance was issued,” which essentially means Take-Two did nothing with it.
Of course, this should come as no surprise, as Rockstar has basically never commented on the game in an official capacity in the past 11 years. Frankly, the only place in 2018 where
you can find mention of it on an official basis is a small page on both Rockstar Games and Take-Two’s websites.
A few years back, a former Rockstar artist posted a slew of environments from the game to Reddit, giving us our first look at the game ever.
I really want them to go with a new IP now. GTA and RDR are really great but I feel like Rockstar have some serious potential in other settings. I'll love to see them tackle some sort of RPG.
BLADE RUNNER RPG
I just want Bully 2
Leaks suggest we're going to get that after RDR2. Sometime.
Personally I was hoping they'd go somewhere with Agent
Isn't that precisely what Cyberpunk 2077 is?
2 weeks later: "THQ Nordic has picked up the trademark for Agent."
Kind of hard to "pick up", something that didn't really take off the ground to begin with?
More of a joke at how much stuff they've been picking up, reviving, and producing recently. Love those guys though.
Anyway I do remember a little bit about this way back when, there was interest in a different IP at the time, but from what I remember it died down VERY quick, because nothing substantial materialized over the next few years, and I honestly haven't thought about it in ages, so it's not a surprise to hear this.
I'd wager a ton of people just got that "Oh yeah, that game." kind of feel from this, because it was just dropped and forgotten so quickly in most circles.
max payne 4 when
Maybe not Max Payne 4 but I'd love for a spiritual successor with the same gunplay/gameplay mechanics. A mostly linear but tightly paced shooter with the new advancements in physics and visuals carried over from RDR 2 would be amazing. Maybe even a spinoff in the same universe if needed be focusing on a brand new character or someone familiar like Raul Passos.
manhunt 3
Haven't played the second one but first one had great atmosphere (at least at the time) and a game that genuinely set me on edge. It was also the only game ever my dad banned me and my brother from playing. Tbf we shouldn't have been idiots and shown him level 3 takedowns with pride and massive grins on our faces.
Still finished it.
Could you imagine the bricks people would shit if a Manhunt game was on the newer engine.
they can easily compete with fallout with a post apocalyptic game
I’m still holding out hope for another LA Noire.
IIRC Rockstar said they have no intention of making MH3 ever, which is a cryin shame
Ah man. Was wondering about that few days ago. Better to have it put out of it's misery I suppose, but seeing the few assets for it was sad af.
