It's amazing that this shit actually goes on, and sometimes they actually pull these things off.
These days I have caution when saying there must be a damn good reason for them to risk their lives. Sometimes a person can be so dumb or disregarding of the concept of their own mortality that they do dangerous things without realising they're dangerous. See: half the driving population of Birmingham. I would once have said that these people must be refugees and driven here by desperation, but then there's also a chance they may genuinely just be really misadventurous economic migrants being trafficked in. Either way it still blows my mind that anyone gets as far as the European mainland - with all its many positives I envy mid-Brexit - and say no, Europe isn't enough, we must have the UK, which is in the depths of a crisis which may destroy us. Makes sense guys get in the boats!
The Police have recently intercepted lorries all over the Southwest and even the Home Counties and Midlands that turn out to contain, among other things, human cargo over from Europe. It's huge business, and one still wonders why anyone would want to come here.
If already in Europe why bother?
Probably told that England pays better. From what I've seen, the conditions for asylum seekers can be pretty poor in France, and a lot see England as the greener pasture when it's probably not a considerable amount of difference.
France actually appears to be more xenophobic than the UK right now, surprisingly. Marine Le Pen probably wouldn't have done so well here. Also, France has 10% unemployment, about double the UK's.
