Could be nothing, but the VGAs are right around the corner...
Just let ID sold to better video game company than keep with these increasingly out of touch anti-video gaming company like Konami.
This is my all-inclusive list of possible future Metal Gear projects that I would hold any hope at all for.
-Remakes of Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, MGS2, or MGS3
-A sequel to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, outsourced to Platinum again
-the movie
that's pretty much it
I mean, Metal Gear Survive just came out this year, and it's still relatively popular in Japan I think. Makes sense.
I'm still holding out for a remake of Peace Walker on the Fox Engine, but that seems about as likely as the original Team Silent getting back together for another Silent Hill game.
God damnit, Konami. I'm honestly kind of impressed with their ability to create two of the greatest video game series of all time and then fuck them both up so spectacularly.
That's a good point. Peace Walker probably deserves a remake more than Snake Eater, just because the comic panel cutscenes are so awful. Some of those cutscenes would be epic if done in-engine.
if it's not a re-remaster of MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3 and a remaster of MGS4 i don't want it
Port MGS3 to PC pls. Also an updated port of 1&2 would be nice too. Remakes are unnecessary.
Oh god it's happening again. They're digging up the corpse.
No. Re-trademarking is done all the time. It's done to keep the IPs and Konami simply owns them.
Nintendo has recently trademarked 30 year old games again that haven't seen any sequels. They do it because they own the games and want to keep the names.
Trademarks are no indication about anything. It's pretty much an automatic process. It still baffles me that people still don't understand this.
This so much. I've had to tell people this so many times. For some reason every gaming site now reports on every random trademark that these companies submit, and it's making people get their hopes up for nothing.
Not really notable. Still, I reckon they should officially lay the series to rest. Kojima and any other staff that made MGS what it was is gone. MGS is over.
Focus on Castlevania IMO. They have a good thing going with the Netflix anime and Smash and fans wull be way less negatively predisposed to a new Castlevania than a new Silent Hill or MGS.
I'd rather of re-releases of previous games on PC and newer consoles
PW is the only game that really needs a remake. The rest still play fine and I just imagine they would somehow fuck up a remake of 1 (honestly I think it still plays fine enough).
Just release PC ports already so I don't have to rely on emulation/having a PS3.
YES more pachinko!
do you people not understand what a trademark is or
Yeah alright I get it now thanks.
If they remake the older games properly they might make back 1% of credibility
Someone fixed up the MGS1 port so it's playable, it's just a clunky old ps1 game.
I only dislike this because it reminds me that MGS is forever stuck with Konami
Is it an actual port? I didn't think MGS1 was ever released on PC. Or is it like the "PC version" of Silent Hill 1 that's just an emulator customized for SH1?
Konami made a port back in the day, a fan just improved upon it.
Honestly I would be so happy if they just ported a collection of all the MGS on PS4, since I don’t have a PS3
One of the worst things about MGS is that MGS4 will be forever tethered to the PS3, which sucks because despite its flaws I still think its a fantastic game.
MGS 4 was Kojima complaining for 10+ hours about having to make another MGS game and not-so-subtly disguising it as a combination anti-smoking and diarrhea awareness ad.
You mean pachinko?
No other series in history will ever be concluded in such a batshit, epic, fanservicey way as MGS4 did. It often reads more like a parody of Metal Gear rather than a proper Metal Gear game but I think that's part of its charm. It's far from my favorite in the series but I still love it to pieces. It's the perfect way to wrap up the series, even if it ended up not actually wrapping it up.
The microwave scene is absolutely flawless and genuinely emotional and anybody who disagrees with me is wrong.
I feel like all the set pieces were fun as hell. I loved the concept of the beauties being bosses. It was all batshit insane but I loved every minute of it.
plus that ending had me tearing up. It’s not my favorite Metal Gear (That goes to Snake Eater) but I regard it as highly as the rest of them to be honest.
In all honesty, Kojima very clearly doesn't want to do Metal Gear anymore and hasn't for a while, I think that non Kojima metal gears were inevitable
Watch them pull a slippery one and it's just demakes of MGS 1 to 3 to the MSX2.
