Alright, why though? What's the point?
Rising world tension and the loss of NATO confidence
Echoing Shift's post: Crimea, and now the tension by the Azov Sea, along with a US growing ever critical of European NATO members; is swaying German policy makers to actually meet their NATO commitments. I feel that although it won't make much difference, the act of trying to be committed to NATO sends a positive message to the US.
Peace for our time!
Not a bad plan, Germany should field a capable military force that doesn't need to overly rely on the US.
I dont blame germany. they can't rely on us anymore and europe is splintering.
Yeah, it's kind of a bad idea to rely on a country with a Commander-in-Chief that is literally insane.
what's that thing they're wearing with the shoulderpads?
Looks like Kevlar pads that can be attached to the body armor, American IBA has something similar called deltoid protectors.
psh, the army with PT standards of just a 5 second chin up hold (don't even have to do a pull up) and 6:30 1000m "dash". they will just go straight to the negotiating at this point if they were without the US
this post has nothing to do with what he says and comes across as really childish imo.
Pretty sure it's a fragmentation jacket and/or vest. We use them too.
thought it was a combined unit
I always found it kind of stupid to bolster your military in case something MIGHT happen, when such a thing might only happen because you're bolstering your military and causing other countries to become suspicious as to your reason for doing such a thing, thus leading them to do the same and increasing tensions further than what they were before. Unless they kept it secret of course.
Oh, so that's why we've got all those commercials about joining the military now. They even released a show about German SpecOps here and I just thought "that's unusual".
