Why does amazon deny making the request when a source within the police says they did?
Do they think we're going to trust a corporation over a police authority?
It's not the 1930s anymore Amazon. You can't just send the Pinkertons in to thuggishly suppress people who are just trying to get fair wages and compensation for their hard work. Absolutely disgusting considering the profits Amazon is making...
At first I thought the only source was from a local union, but then I realized you were right, they do have a police source lol
What the hell amazon what are you thinking
I can understand the confusion. I too would presume Spain is a fascist state where police are used to crack down on labour disputes if I saw a giant mausoleum dedicated to a fascist dictator
The Pinkertons used to suppress strikes with mounted machine guns, though this is still asinine.
Of course the police is down to beat up and repress protesters or demonstrators, I'm sure Amazon saw what happened in Catalonia last year and said "How can we monetize this??"
Amazon wanted a police presence at the warehouse to ensure that productivity remained high within the fulfilment center
Sounds like some slave labor shit.
Amazon is exactly the example you need for retarded that want a true unregulated economy lmao
clearly they didn't use enough subcontractors to dilute the power of labor. Big problem there, gotta sub contract those jobs out as much as possible, why my brother is working for a sub contractor of a sub contractor that replaced union jobs and he's not likely to go on strike. Totally not you know... some problem with the jobs themselves.
Amazon fucking scares me.
Amazon's request "dumbfounded" police, according to El Confidencial. "The request was categorically rejected by the police, who maintained that controlling labour productivity doesn't fall within its powers," a police source said.
Law enforcement officials reportedly emphasized to Amazon that Spanish law protects workers' right to strike. They told the company that police would be present at the strike but would limit themselves to keeping the peace.
Not only did they not beat up and repress anyone, but were there to enforce their right to protest. Can you hide your hate-boner for a minute and pretend to read the article, at least?
Never thought I'd live to the day where I could confidently say McDonalds treats its employees better than Amazon.
I was wondering at this point if this was going to be picked by international news, since how much they love publishing ads with their Black Friday deals.
Also this happened last year as well, they do this because they know they can go away with ( as long as we prioritize the "jobs at all cost" rather than decent wages ).
