It's unsustainable by design. Say what you want about Trump's intelligence but the GOP isn't stupid. They understand that raising spending while cutting revenue is a net increase in the deficit. The idea is to hold it over the head of Democrats when they regain control of congress.

The answer to a deficit is 99% of the time to cut social services and public services. The money given to the rich will be taken from the poor.

Yeah this has pretty much been their strategy for decades now, fuck shit up for their own profit then blame it on Dems when they eventually regain power so they get voted on again, rinse and repeat, same shit happened in the Bush-Obama eras.
I won't pretend to know the plan, but it probably goes something like this:
Tax Cuts without and increased spending without concern to the deficit.
The deficit becomes a problem and the government needs to fix it.
Cut welfare, medicare, and other social services to reduce the deficit.
If Democrats reject, accuse them of not working together to lower the deficit.
Who the hell is Germany to be telling us something like this? All they've been doing is... posting a budget surplus for 4 years straight.
It'll be all our fault somehow though.
