Replica of "Rust" infringing copyrights - (Making profit)
6 replies, posted
So I came across this game on "Roblox" by the name "Rovive".
Here is a link for the interested: [TEAMS] Rovive
I suddently realized the owner is charging a fee of "100 Robux" about $1 per game sale!
I hooked my self with some of that Robux to make my self cooler (Jk just wanted to see the game.) -- Paid $10
I bought the game and I can't believe my eyes on how much of a replica it is.. (I know you can't copyright a concept), but there is certain stuff you can.
One huge one being 'Assets', the game is legit ripping of the assets from Rust whether is recreating or re-uploading them to their platform.
The owner of the game "Ripull" is ripping of the entire game concept and assets for his own profit.
Please help bring light on this situation and hope that the Admins of Rust will see this and take action against it.
Here is a great example!:

Rust has every right to even file a lawsuit against this user, he has profited so much of the game already!
The game has around 400k Visits (rounded up) there are constantly 100 playing if we divide that:
400,000/100 (Constantly playing) = 4,000 - 7,000 Visits daily (probably more).
[Roblox has a limitation of people joining and giving only 1 visit per day. (No matter how much you rejoin).]
Judging by a "Badge" awarded to the player upon joining the game "Official Rovive Tester" and was created on the: "November 9th 2018" : Badge (Official Rovive Tester)
This was awarded to "6486" players so far, people that have bought may be over 10,000 since the game did come out on "8/6/2018" and the badge was created later on.
Trying to get a 'close' estimate we will use specific evidence to try and prove how much he has made, so 6486 x 100 (Robux) = 648,600.
He also sells other permissions to a 'testing server' and planning on selling private servers.
If I am correct with estimation from game release and where I calculated from I am pretty sure the owner has made around 1,500,000 (Robux currency of the game).
You can trade this Robux currency (large sums) into real life money through a thing called "Dev exchange".
Judging from the rates the user has profited around $4,000 to $35,000 in the past three or so months!
Please help spread awareness of this issue and hopefully, the admins will take actions against this!
Thank you
It very obviously takes inspiration from rust
but dude it's a fucking roblox game, 95% of games on that site are ripoffs anyway
maybe ripped assets but other than that what they're doing is 100% legal
I understand what you're trying to say, but if you look deeper into this situation you'll see how much copyright it infringes.
"Ripped assets" is enough to file a lawsuit.
Garry probably doesn't care.
Look at the modelling subforum here. This place is all about ripping assets lol. Garry's Mod is a prime example of such behaviour.
That's because Nintendo are hyperparanoid about their cute cuddly family-friendly trademarked characters being misused, and also of their copyrights in general. If you sneeze on a kleenex and the snot forms Pikachu's head, they'll send you a grouchy letter.
Rust is a game about bashing a dude's head in with your rock while he screams that you're a beta faggot and his clan is going to offline raid you. If people want to do that in Roblox that's their brain damage. It'd be more trouble for garry to go after this guy than for him to just ignore the dude. If he starts trying to claim that it's an official Facepunch Studios product, now that might prompt the studio to do something, like sending him an email telling him to stop being a lying shit, but chances are garry's not going to consider this worth his time. Especially because you squash one account and another'll reappear doing the same thing.
I understand what you mean but it's already a problem when the meshes are being replicated or reuploaded.
You think it's a problem.
I can't read his mind and I'm not about to try and bother him over this, but the chances are that garry does not think that this is a problem that is important enough for his time.
