Mueller III, calling the special counsel investigating Russian election interference a “conflicted prosecutor gone rogue” who is doing “TREMENDOUS damage” to the criminal justice system. In morning tweets, Trump employed some of his harshest language to date in a continuing attempt to discredit Mueller as he probes possible coordination between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign and whether Trump has obstructed the investigation. “Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie,” Trump said. “Mueller is a conflicted prosecutor gone rogue. . . . The Fake News Media builds Bob Mueller up as a Saint, when in actuality he is the exact opposite. He is doing TREMENDOUS damage to our Criminal Justice System.” Trump also repeated a complaint that Mueller is not looking into the president’s political adversaries. Trump’s tweets followed several high-profile developments Monday in the investigation by Mueller, who is preparing a report on his findings. Prosecutors working with Mueller said Paul Manafort, Trump’s former campaign chairman, had breached a plea agreement, accusing him of lying repeatedly to them in the investigation into Russian interference. In a court filing, Manafort denied doing so intentionally. In another development Monday, one of Trump’s former aides, foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, reported to prison after a federal judge rejected a bid to delay the start of his sentence while a constitutional challenge to Mueller’s investigation remains unresolved. Mueller’s 18-month-old investigation has led to charges against 32 people, including 26 Russians. Four aides to Trump have pleaded guilty to various charges, most recently Manafort in September. Tuesday was the second day in a row that Trump has employed his Twitter account to attack Mueller. On Monday morning, Trump sought to cast doubts about the special counsel’s expected report, questioning why his team has not spoken with “hundreds of people” who saw no evidence of coordination with Russians during the 2016 campaign. Trump also once again accused Mueller of having conflicts of interest, which he did not describe, and suggested that his report should include recommendations about unspecified “crimes of many kinds” committed by Trump’s adversaries. https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1067395266511347713 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1067398375337791488 https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1067404517841518593
Fucking lunatic is getting real nervous.
nothing to get nervous about if he didn't do anything :^)
"Justice" Department This may not seem like a big thing, but it's a big thing. Publicly questioning the entirety of the justice system is begging to sell the point that 'there is no justice'. No President has ever attacked the whole of the Justice department because it is insanity to do so, it is grabbing with both hands the very foundation of the Republic and testing it to see how likely it is to fall to shambles. It is tantamount to the President tweeting 'the "Constitution" '.
He's starting to sound like a mad king from a Shakespeare work before he gets murdered by his bodyguards.
seems like he's gotten the rough outline of what's coming from his not pal in the DOJ
Trump is increasingly attacking the constitution itself lately, first with "so-called birthright citizenship" and now this
also best 30 million the government has ever spent. Quite the bang for our buck.
It's actually only five million and he's seized over 40 million of assets from Manafort.
Trump has spent over 30 Million at Mar-A-Lago. He's spent over 30 million on golfing trips. His "leisure" budget is higher than the investigation.
"Phony witch hunt" says increasingly nervous lunatic for the seventh time this year.
Only to a tyrant who dreams of being King is the Constitution an annoyance. Only to a dictator does the nation of a Democratic Republic seem a distraction. He is slowly disrobing, right in front of America, and showing us that what lies beneath the slimy skin of his ill-gotten jacket is naked fascism and authoritarianism. He is strip-teasing us while constantly half-assuring-us and half-assuring-himself 'you like this. you like this more than the Republic you had'. The true and real horror of it is that some who were yelling half-jokingly 'take it off' before are now deadpan-seriously, without any humor, stating 'take it off' -- because they have seen what lies beneath and they have found themselves attracted.
I think if he was smarter he'd resign in 2019 and get Pence to pardon him, but he's too hardheaded for that.
This is why Mueller deserves Time's Person of the Year. The man embodies Teddy Roosevelt's, "speak soft and carry and strong stick." For roughly a year and a half, almost nothing has come out of his investigation, since he runs such a tight-lipped operation. Now that it's (presumably) nearing its conclusion, Trump is throwing panicked fits to discredit it before the guillotine finally drops.
I am salivating over the tweetstorm that would ensue given how utterly desperate the Don is to be on the front cover every year.
Excellent point and thank you for focusing in on this particular detail. You're exactly right that it is fundamental to Trump's entire ideology and the propaganda war he is waging against the rule of law. Very relevant: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6fpu_9S31c
Mueller and His Gang of Angry Democrats is a great band name.

Under budget and ahead of schedule.
It's going to be a wild fucking ride either way, but it'll still be satisfying to at least see the hammer finally start to come down on this fucking animal.
Wouldn't Mueller have to agree to do a photoshoot with TIME to be their person of the year? I feel like he'd refuse that, given how he hasn't really done or said anything publicly regarding this investigation.
It'd just mean they'd use an old photo instead. They didn't drag everyone into a photoshoot when they did 'You' that one year.
I was doing some Googling to find out if Time requires a photoshoot for PotY. Couldn't find much, but I did find this snippet from The Guardian: https://reel.geel.tf/31aotlpaj7e87v2aqslu.png And holy shit the fucking sass
Why the fuck would a special counsel be looking at the "other side", jesus christ, he was appointed to investigate a specific thing, it's so frustrating that Trump keeps hammering that dumb argument. Just get another special counsel then...
Come, let’s away to prison; We two alone will sing like birds i’the cage… And take upon the mystery of things As if we were God’s spies.
And then they turn around and yell about ocerreach lol
Trump has brought appointing a second Special Counsel to investigate Hillary/Mueller.

Ever since the midterms Trumps tweets have been sounding even more insane than usual. From "Gas is so cheap I'm causing traffic jams" to "Record cold so WHAT ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING" to "Will no one rid me of these meddlesome courts" and now this. I know it's cliche to say but it genuinely feels like he's been losing it the last couple weeks.
House Dems should then open a tertiary investigation into the Investigation of the Mueller Investigation.
