https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/11/26/jailed-rapist-offered-chance-see-victims-child/ council offered a jailed sex offender the chance to play a part in the future of the child of a woman he raped, it has emerged.  The rapist, who was part of a grooming gang in the North of the country and has no parental responsibility for his son, was contacted by the local authority to give him a chance to see the boy, a Times investigation has uncovered.  To protect the child the names of the parents and of the local authority have been withheld.  The man featured in a criminal trial which saw several men of Pakistani origin found guilty of sex offences against numerous vulnerable women, including the boy’s mother.  The mother is being interviewed by Piers Morgan tomorrow and she made this video: https://twitter.com/sammywoodhouse1/status/1067412305888067584
Oh wow its you-know-whos from Rotherham again
What the fuck is the council doing placing this subhuman piece of trash anywhere near children? The authority already failed to protect the victims before and let the perpetrators use their paki background as a way to dissuade police from looking racist and get away with it for so long. They've even given ammo to the Britain First and EDL types just by entertaining this.
I agree, but the racial/xenophobic slur is not helping.
Its just like with Pikeys, every time you say "You do realize they've got a genuine issue in that community" you get called ethier racist or hateful oh look and then it happens again and again and again and again and again and all they can do is try not to mention the nationality or ethnicity, whilst the actually racist tabloids have a field day PAKI SCUM RAPES WHITE BABE HOW CAN WE RID THE WORLD OF THESE DEGENERATES when the true answer is to investigate the Pakistani community as a whole, root out the issue and get on with it
I wasn't being xenophobic though?
I just mean that the word 'paki' is often used by those sorts of people. I don't disagree with the core of your message.
We don't disagree with you, just don't use "Paki", it devalues any message you can send
Calling someone of pakistani origin a "paki" is a slur, objectively.
hell fucking no. had it been the offspring's choice then sure, whatever. but the rapist should never be allowed to decide, no matter how much they've changed since. and I'm a firm believer in rehab.
Isnt paki just short for pakistani Why is everyone getting triggered? I have a Pakistani colleague that calls himself a paki? Maybe its because this is Australia and we shorten every word
The justice system in this country is honestly run by retards
I've always found it funny how abbreviations are considered slurs. Quite informal, but seems far from being blatantly inflammatory.
It's just the context in which it's used in Britain. People I've seen use it tend to be talking in a racially disparaging way. It's not necessarily the case for everybody though.
bad uk, you're supposed to keep the rapist pedophiles away from the children, not invite them to meet them.
Its purely because of how its used in the UK, here if you say "he's a paki" 99% of people will think you're using it as a slur.

Come to bradford, refer to any asian lad you speak to as a paki and you'll get your answer as to whether it's just shorthand
Do you call the Japanese "japs"? That's a no-no in America, even if it just a shortening. Before this thread, I wouldn't have thought "Paki" was a slur, but I can see why it is.
But isn't that's what the churches are for?
Is a search too much for you to do when you're unsure of a word rather than just going "IS IT A SLUR, GUYS? I HEARD A GUY CALL HIMSELF THIS WORD SO IS IT A SLUR? NWA SAY THE N-WORD ALL THE TIME WHY CAN'T I??"
Can we take a moment and look at the shitshow on the top 5 posts. When the fuck did "paki" become a racial slur? the fuck is this world?
Since the connection of Middle Eastern, Pakistani, and Indian cultures to the United Kingdom in the 1850s onward, you have to be culturally deaf or a fucking wilful idiot to not know that "paki" is a slur here. Ever since the Raj it's been a generic slur for anyone vaguely from any sort of middle-eastern country regardless of true heritage or ethnicity. I've seen people use it in regard to light-skinned Zambians before. It's pretty much the cultural equivalent of the N-word but for anyone that's not dark enough to be called that. A lot of it comes from the late sixties and seventies too when we had a surge of mid-northern, midlands immigration by people from India and Pakistan in particular, which is why England has such a large culture of Indian and Pakistani and Bangladeshi food. If you think the term "paki" being a slur is a problem with the world then you're thick. Very, very thick.
It's not new - it has been considered a slur for a very long while. Anyway, let's get this thread back on topic.
Oi nah. Get off your high horse. We call each other Aussies. Not Australians. Japs not japanese. Indos. Brits. Sweeds. Its culture to shorten things. There is genuine confusion here and he asked a legitimate question related to the topic so he can better understand whats happening. Hes not asking for an excuse to use THE N-WORD because thats not short for anything. But you know what. You jumped straight from a shortening of a word straight to a genuinely racist term so fast. You're the closet racist.
Except its nowhere near the same as saying n-word. That was created to be derogatory. I just said that based on how people here shorten it without malicious intent. Its different in the uk sure, but I have only occasionally heard it here as a slur or with malicious intent.
Yoo "paki" is not okay, definitely not okay in Australia either. It's like saying "Jap"
I'm pretty sure that 'Japs' is also considered a slur though? This whole "the anti-racists are the REAL racists!" thing needs to die. Can we please get back on-topic though, please? My friend setup a petition on the government website about this so I'll update you all when it has been approved. 100,000 signatures mean it has to be debated in parliament.
Now it's a word for people who aren't Pakistani to getting offended by on behalf of nobody.
