I would say it's not too late to start regulating things, but at this juncture things are looking to pick up in pace as we know it.

Beyond safeguarding the typical American citizen, now children are involved in the argument. Which in turn
will hasten things along nicely.

The ESRB could've fixed this by having a proper descriptor for loot boxes beyond the broad " In Game Purchases " descriptor, and having proper internal regulation to ensure things didn't get out of control; But here we are, the final stretch.

The ESRB's job is to cover the asses of the videogame industry to prevent government intervention. Not protect or inform consumers.

I look forward to finding out what the FTC finds as well how they plan on correcting it. I don't think an outright ban is going to happen unfortunately, but hopefully its more than just a awareness PSA on lootboxes.
