Some audio sources don't work headset but work fine in speakers?

My headset (G533) generally works perfectly, but a month or so ago some audio just stopped working in it, for example every video from Super Best Friends Play but no other YT video so far. Also affected are some Tumblr videos and now even a couple of MP3s despite them being right on my hard drive.
Changing browser or music player makes no difference at all, and I've updated Logitech drivers. I have no separate sound card.
Audio not playing only on certain videos is the weirdest thing I've heard of all week. One thing that comes to mind is different audio codecs between videos. right click and view stats to see if they're different. As to WHY it doesn't play audio on certain codecs, it could be a driver or plugin issue. Although you did say you reinstalled drivers, there could still be a conflict somewhere.
I don't know what drivers my system uses for audio besides Logitech's one, and I don't recall installing anything besides MoBo drivers at the very beginning. How would I check?
It's worth looking for an updated motherboard driver or BIOS if it has on-board audio. Throw your mobo model into google and see what's on your manufacturer's website.

I think found my problem. This is a stereo headset but it can't be used as anything other than 7.1 surround, leaving most channels mute. Reinstalling the driver doesn't fix that so I don't know what will.
unplug your headset, View any installed/connected USB device on your system use that to remove any G533 entries, uninstall LGS and G Hub, reboot, plug in headphones, reinstall LGS/G Hub
I wanna say the speaker configuration isn't the issue because I can't select stereo either, (I have a g430) and I don't have this problem.
I had this problem with VLC though and had to go into Output modules and switch Direct X from 5.1 to stereo. I dunno if there's a system wide place you can select this or not.
Do you have the logitech software installed? What options do you have in there? I personally would just leave surround off...it isn't real surround and adds unnecessary FX. You might also try just not installing the logitech software honestly.
I fixed it, by uninstalling Logitech's drivers, so coins for suggesting that
After that, the very same driver program I uninstalled started up just fine and the problem was gone

Since it wasn't a genuine 7.1, it now looks as it should
