Those gosh-darn leftists must be conspiring to erase all white people from history everywhere!! They've lied to us in all our video games! Leonardo Da Vinci wasn't friends with Assassins and samurais truly didn't fight giant enemy crabs!
Politics aside, which let's face it, is the only reason why anybody rated this baby, I have no idea how war games keep on fictionalizing events yet somehow making the end result less interesting, especially with the norwegian campaign here.
I've discovered American Krogan only recently and yes, the downright political commentary he likes to add constantly in his analysis videos kinda ruins the final effort and makes many points he tries to make ridicolous.
Maybe he wants to tell his audience just what it wants to hear and do some baiting to get more views, but is't sad all the same, especially because content like this, for instance
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88jhgNtZ4UY
shows that the guy does his research throught and throught, at the very least
I honestly don't understand why not take real situation where women fought for example, boost it up for game purposes and release it. Why not do representation right? Nah, let's just pull off Ghostbusters.
And it's funny that they have moment how black fighters being erased, but DICE themselves reshaped real operation for their purposes.
Oh god, not The Dishonored Wolf. The amount of fucking times I had to click 'Hide videos like this' on his YT links kept showing up in recommended was insane. He is one of the most clickbaity shite YouTube channels I've ever seen.
I'm holding out hope that, one day, there will be someone talking about the wild inaccuracies and actual issues of the newer Battlefields without sinking themselves up to the hair in the identity politics cesspit.
Whilst I didn't really care about BFV in terms of realism because it's never been realistic at all, I do kinda agree with the guy that it feels distinctly wrong to change real people who died into other figures for either emotional appeal or political relevance. Surely those people should be respected correctly, at the very least?
I found the video did spend a long time on something that may seem inconsequential for many, but I do think it would seem like a pretty outlandish thing for the families of these soldiers.
I've only played Under No Flag because the campaign so far has been fucking boring (a far more heinous offense than being historically inaccurate) but the impression I got was that Bridger was recruited because the officer in question knew him (or, more precisely) his father) personally. British prisoners weren't conscripted during WW2 and nothing in the game seems to indicate that this was the norm for SBS or any British special forces. In the context of the game the players squadmates are clearly military themselves, if not exactly Royal Marines.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't part of the reason of why BFV put such an emphasis on diversity due to present day political views of the design staff?
Almost certainly, but I think it was more of a cash-grab that back-fired. Companies like EA have already shown they have no morals by inducing kids to gamble. I just think relating this to Macron arguing against nationalist tendencies is disingenuous. It's a separate issue and Macron had nothing to do with this in any way, shape or form.
The only good one was the last campaign with the french freedom fighters. And thats because its probably the most accurate with Moroccan black men given no to little compensation for fighting in france up until literally this decade.
https://qz.com/africa/960851/france-gives-citizenship-and-full-pensions-to-african-soldiers-who-fought-its-20-century-wars/
A group of West African soldiers stationed at camp in Thiaroye, Senegal, mutinied in 1944, demanding equal pay and the same treatment as their French counterparts. French soldiers fired on them, killing up to 400 men. Their mass grave still hasn’t been found.
After African colonies gained independence in the 1960s, France froze military pensions, citing cheaper living costs in Africa. While a French military veteran received €690 a month in 2006 (about $850 then), a sub-Saharan African or North African soldier got about €61. Former colonial solders were allowed to stay in France but could only go home for three months a year.
Dude follows fucking David Duke what the fuck.
Jesus this guy is a fucking train wreck, it just keeps getting worse lol
I feel like I'm reading a /v/ thread. This sounds like the kind of guy who makes threads complaining about how the KKK are unfairly portrayed as villains in Red Dead 2 and that Hitler's portrayal in Wolfenstein 2 is unflattering and offensive.
Fiction always messes with the past, and the idea that pieces of media that represent the past without using their own cultural biases and lenses is frankly not a good one. Creators will always go into a project with their own cultural ideas, and that's perfectly fine.
These idiots are beyond parody. Seems every five minutes there's another reactionary nutjob with another set of conspiracy theories.
Most historical media makes up stories based on real events to avoid upsetting the families of the people the stories are based on.
Look Six Days in Fallujah, the developers were working with the men who took part in the operation and there was a massive shit show from the families of veterans (mostly ones that weren't even at Fallujah). Pissing off the actual families of people who existed wouldn't go over well.
That's because he actually did that.
He also said Fallout 76 was bad because there weren't enough white people.
Does he have a version of the game where there's actually people in it? If so I want it
I've never wanted to give a person a noogie more than this cunt. Fuck me.
Honestly it’s all fine except for the Norway one, where they erased an entire company of soldiers and somehow turned playing as a one woman army just entirely forgettable.
Channels like this are the reason why I roll my eyes and laugh at almost every 'video essay' I come across nowadays that's not already from good creators.
Thanks for adding another channel to my blocked list alongside Cleanprince and Downward, OP.
I was not kidding when I said he actually made a video complaining about Wolfenstein being anti-Nazi.
goddamn lol
Honestly, he does bring a good point in the video, about meddling with history to shove the current social agenda down our throats (and I even know the reason for it, and it's a lot more simple than what you might think - it's just EA using it as a shield against criticism, that's all), yet the video didn't have to be so over the top with scrutinizing almost every aspect of this, to the point of even defending nazis.
Then I saw this tweet. Yeah, he's a lunatic.
