Curious what he’s gonna say about Dog Days, I thought the consensus was that it was an improvement over Dead Men, just too short to make a difference
I got Kane and Lynch for free and Dog Days at a severe discount so take my opinions with a grain of salt but honestly they are sort of guilty pleasures. The comment about each level being something out of a Michael Mann film is spot on and the interaction between the two protagonists really carries the plot. I will agree that the shooting in Dog Days just feels kind of shitty, almost like you are lagging in a singleplayer game if that makes sense.
If nothing else, I can be thankful for Kane & Lynch because without it Jeff Gerstmann might not have gotten fired from Gamespot and gone on to found Giant Bomb.
The style really carries the game for me. I loooooooove Michael Mann movies so I can deal with the not so great gameplay just to feel like I'm playing through a Michael Mann movie, which is why I've played through the game at least three times, though I don't always finish it since the last few levels are pretty crappy to play.
Definitely agree with the guilty pleasure part, I really like both of them in a weird way where I really don't want to replay them but I have fond memories of my 1-2 playthroughs back when they came out
Dog Days has a great visual style gimmick that is used well but as people mentioned before it's way too short and moves way too fast to really enjoy it in my opinion.
Both games (Dog Days in particular) are definitely worth picking up and playing through once at the price they're going these days.
