https://www.theverge.com/2018/11/29/18117584/microsoft-surface-studio-monitor-2020-release-date-rumors Not gonna lie, Microsoft has some great fucking screens in the Surfaces. Plus if this monitor is a touchscreen (no reason to think it won't if it will have Pen support), this might be the first major touchscreen monitor you can just buy.
I would absolutely love this, though it'd likely still be pricey as all hell. Still, I'd have no objections to having a monitor like that for my desktop, especially if it supported the surface pen. *That* would be useful.
Would definitely be nice for media consumption and professional work. Of course I doubt the monitor would be "suitable" for gaming though, well in terms of low response time and high refresh rate.
Fuuuck I hope its as good as the screen in the studio. I was at Best Buy the other day and the colors on that thing where so amazing! I would buy that shit in a heart beat.
Great fucking screens, except my SP4 screen failed a week or so ago due to "flickergate". Granted, they had a really awesome repair service - but I am now forever wary of their displays.
Sad story is, you should pretty much plan on getting the MS Complete warranty. I’ve heard great things about the newer ones though, especially the Go and the Studio. My Book 2 15” is doing great, save for a few things I can blame on Windows Insider builds.
Probably the difference between the American and European support, sadly. I called them up, they guided me through some steps to confirm the issue (a manufacturing error) and I was sent a shipping label right after. Shipped the Surface, got a completely new one one week later.
Ye this was my thinking too; they probably have to offer better support in Europe than they do in the US.
Well, technically my Surface was out of warranty. They had no real obligation, but they accepted mine because the issue was a known error in some screens. They did originally deny the error existed for like a year, before they gave in after lots of people rightfully complained. The error was basically that the screen would start to violently shake due to heat.
Oh god, imagine that coupled with the Facepunch article embed shaking bug
This shit should for real be illegal. I bought a product new for $1,000 I want a new one not someone's hand-me-down.
It's honestly more than reasonable that they offer everyone this kind of service considering how much these devices cost. If I pay a premium (and my device was 2000 euros originally), I'd expect matching service.
My philosophy on non-user-serviceable devices like Surfaces and most Apple PCs is that if you can't afford to buy two of them, you can't afford to buy one. Fitting that Microsoft would go out of their way to be even shittier at repairability than Apple is.
