That's shit is from before you could go to the zoo and see the animals there. There's no sense still having it.
I don't see a problem necessarily, as long as you're not cruel to the animals. So any circus or a similar business in the industry should be under tight scrutiny and certification processes to ensure the well-being and ethical treatment of animals. After all, we own every animal on this planet, but furthermore our duty towards ourselves is extended on animals. It is proven. Cruelty to animals will lessen our ability to sympathize with people, and vice versa.
I don't think that there's a ethical way to have an elephant or a hippo on a circus.
I think you may be right.
i don't see any issue in having show animals as long as they're treated properly. if you argue that they ought to be able to live freely then you're arguing against a safer prospect to live longer rather than being mauled by wildlife or get diseased.
There aren't a lot of animals who are social and friendly enough to be trained without having to resort to stressful and often physically harmful coercive methods. Animals like hippos and elephants certainly do not fit into this category.
