On some servers, some maps have their texture's physical properties replaced with rubber, and the entire map becomes super bouncy to all physics prop collisions on every surface type. This seems to happen only to props spawned by the players, not ones owned and spawned by the map itself, however this is unconfirmed. Only SOME maps on SOME servers, for example, gm_redrock. I can't replicate this issue, because it doesn't happen in single player or peer-to-peer. I tried doing some research into this, and someone suggested that it might be caused by prop protection? Maybe? I'm pretty lost here.
I think this is the physics engine crashing, in which case only a restart can fix it, if the props go inside the ground for however little.
No, the props don't go inside the ground at all. They just bounce and eventually settle as normal.
If it happens on SOME servers, the problem is with those servers and their addons and nothing you can do about it, its not on your end.
Are any of the servers using Natural Disasters?
I remember having that on my server once for a bit, with the default map being gm_redrock, and using the earthquake thing would permanently turn the map bouncy as shit.
I could also be mis-remembering, but I do remember it being addon related.
Issue found! Apparently it's ACF Unofficial Extras causing it. The weird thing is, it only happens on dedicated servers, and only on some maps. No clue why. This requires further investigation. Any volunteers?
Look for calls to physenv.AddSurfaceData
