War will continue so long as Ukraine government stays: Putin

Vladimir Putin said Saturday he saw no end to the conflict in eastern Ukraine "as long as the current authorities remain in power."
"The current Ukrainian authorities have no interest in resolving the conflict, especially by peaceful means," Putin told reporters at the end of the G20 summit in Argentina.

as long as Ukraine government stays...
which means
unless we put Russian administration in charge of the new territories...
At least he said what we knew all along.
not even trying to pretend anymore
They just want a puppet government like in the good old Soviet times
Hopefully instead Putin gets a live artillery shell in the ass.
Yep, but only because you won't stop supplying the rebels.
So, what's he going to do then? Invade Ukraine to remove the current government for "Humanitarian" reasons or some bullshit
Not just the Soviet days really, they had a puppet government in place prior to the Euromaidan revolution. Ukraine gained its independence from Russia in 2014, and Russia will want it back for at least as long as it's within living memory.
Why should he? He's succesfully installed his asset in the highest office of the United States and there's a terrifyingly strong chance that's he's compromised the majority of the political party that's backed his asset because they're a bunch of petty criminals who showed him exactly where to stick the knife with their greed. Tinyhands hasn't made any secret of his admiration for Putin and it's deeply telling that the GOP continues to be so deafeningly silent on the matter of his Russian ties, and it's only to cast doubts on them and pretend nothing's going on when they do actually bother to speak up
While I'm in no way in doubt about his true intentions, he was careful to say "the current government". He didn't let it slip that he wants Ukraine destroyed, just the current government. And any government that isn't under his thumb.
Let's bring back some of America's WWII Charm

"The current Ukrainian authorities have no interest in resolving the conflict, especially by peaceful means,"
Which is why we're going to keep chipping away at their territory bit by bit until they learn how to act nice
But Putin dismissed Ukraine's economic problems on Saturday, saying, "It's always easier to blame economic failures on war."
"It's always the 'outside aggressor' who is guilty," he said.
Yeah... stupid countries always complaining about economic problems! It's their own fault. The fact that we are slowly annexing parts of their country and fueling their civil war has nothing to do with it! Honestly, it's just a load of bullshit, if you ask me. It's their own fault.
"It's always the 'outside aggressor' who is guilty."
Nevermind the piles of evidence that Russian forces are operating in Ukraine.
Going to be nitpicky but puppet government you refer to was in between 2009 and 2014. Wouldn't call Uschenko, the guy who oriented country towards EU and tried to enter NATO a puppet government
Fair point, Russia and Ukraine have been battling back and forth over the country's independence basically since 91, with some of Ukraine's presidents being pro-independence and others being Russian puppets. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that in 2014 Russia finally gave up the ghost and stopped bothering with puppet politicians and election tampering and instead just outright invaded.
No they didn't, Putin's brother in law, for example, recently returned to politics and bought 2 channels
Wow, I don't know if I should be appalled by how blatant he's being, or impressed that he didn't flee to Russia like Yanukovych did.
