Working on some mods with some TF2 models. I'm getting confused as normally when i import a model from in game, it comes out just linked at the bottom of the skeleton, which has me baffled https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/231968/ddb15da1-1504-460a-9d8f-da947adbc2c1/pic1.JPG its making it hard line up any changes or additions i need done to the model itself. normally when i load up these models they are positioned to the respective place it would be on the model. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/231968/f182471f-b257-42c7-b3e5-6cf82bc455b6/pic2.JPG anywho, any help/solution would be greatly appreciated, as i am still super new to modding
Upload a blend with the imported model?
what do you mean?
Upload a .blend file with the imported model for me to look at
Did you import the hat first, or the rest of the model? If you did the hat first, try importing the Sniper first, then make sure "append to existing skeleton" is checked. This is going off of memory though, so I could be wrong.
i tried both ways. neither seem to work which is odd 70s.blend
I just looked at it and imported with YOUR UI and it imports just fine.. but all that was in the blend file was the armature and the hat and glasses... the hat is parented to the head! https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/137945/cbbb3a5b-de4c-4df6-aeea-37df66594d27/Hat-01.png
sorry lemme resend you it; thats due to my part setting it there. Now when i launch it up, since the floor is the synced location, the in game model has the hat floating way above his head
and here is a blend with the base model in it, as you asked.example.blend
worked for me. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/133701/247cd471-dbe8-4392-9e68-ce5ae27c2fd2/Capture.PNG
sorry i did wrong one again. i can tell because the base model is not supposed to have glasses. triple checked this one: hm_disguisehat_sniper.smd
IT doesn't. I imported both the files you uploaded
it doesnt what?
It doesn't have glasses. I imported both files on top of each other.
hmm well i jerry rigged a solution haha, but thanks for all the help tho. hopefully in the future ill figure out a proper solution
If you import both files. Set your cursor to the bone in the middle of the jaw area, then move the hat to the cursor position, it's correctly positioned.
