https://www.androidauthority.com/google-home-mini-spotify-trial-930940/ Here's the direct link to login and do the stuff: https://www.spotify.com/googlehome/register Google and Spotify are giving Spotify Family Premium users a free Google home mini now until Dec 31st. No joke, I ordered mine today, total of $0 because I'm already a family subscriber. Finally, paying for all the deadbeats on my account pays off Existing or new members.
Does it work outside the US?
I'm not sure, can confirm it works in the US though. If you check it out, will you report back?

Thanks for the update, added to OP
Aww, lame.
I still don't trust those fuckin things.
I was sooo ready to report this as a spambot post
I thought it was just some clickbait in my new box this morning, but I'm very excited I'm getting one for free! Sucks I didn't see this shit before I bought one on black Friday..
Am I the only one unsettled by the google homes and amazon minis? My roommates have them and their web ads always reflect what we have been discussing
It's unnerving at first, I'll admit, but I'm a lazy bastard and like being able to tell the mini to play music and turn on my lights first thing in the morning. See, as far as the advertising goes, if they'd actually try and sell me shit I wanted, I'd be all for it. I'll give up the privacy to get something that actually appeals to me, and make the god damn TikTok and toon blast ads go away!
I just find it creepy how theoretically easy they would be to use to spy on people. I am greatly intrigued by IOT devices and would like to get some (if I had money), but only if I could host their activity server side so I know what they are doing.
Yeah, it's much like that meme "1980: Shhhh there might be a wiretap! 2018: Hey wiretap, what's the weather like?" I've been looking into the IOT thing now that I have an mini, and I found these wifi relay switches called Sonoff basic. They're like $6 a piece, and can be paired to most any home assistant, or run interdependently with phone apps or home pc servers. I patched one into my bedroom fan, and can control it with either my phone or yell at my mini to toggle it.
Ive been looking at hosting "Home assistant" or "openHAB 2" on a rasberry pi (if you guys have other server suggestions, just post) since they can interface with so many devices
I found one called Hass.io that's built specifically for Pi's and is web interface easiness. Flash an SD card, pop it in, connect it to ethernet and open the web page.
I was able to claim one.
Richard Stallman tried to wan you all. You didn't listen....
