Can't wait for all the data breaches, and hopefully, an international lawsuit against the Australian government for being fucking retarded.
If you don't see the issue in intentional backdoors, you're basically just a moron and shouldn't create laws for technology.
"The laws of science don't apply, only the laws of Australia apply" or something like that, it's been a while since I've seen the quote.
Please tell me that is a meme and isn't a real quote.
Literally why would any service just say "oh hey Australia here's our encryption keys that globally compromise our data" instead of just pulling entirely out of Australia. Tech companies that rely on strong encryption aren't stupid and they know how dangerous this would be to their businesses.
How much of a fucking brainlet fucktard do you have to be to imply that the laws of mathematics don't apply ANYWHERE?

Both the laws of Math and laws of Australia were unfortunately against Malcom Turnbull when he got kicked out of his party by a successful leadership spill vote...
If any of the tech companies have a spine, they'll just tell the australian government to get fucked and stop offering their services here
Amazing. I never thought a politician, let alone a non-US politican, could say something dumber and more arrogant than anything Trump has ever said. What an achievement.
(To be fair though, that's only because Trump is so stupid period that he wouldn't even know how to use the phrase "laws of mathematics" in a complete sentence.)
Yeah good luck trying to enforce this, Makes me wanna keep my VPN on all the time now
Just make sure that VPN traffic isn't encrypted using math.
well most people conceptualize the laws of physics like actual laws instead of a set of generalized models of pieces of the universe. To this end they can thus compare them to laws of society and put priority of one over the other.
Reality is, math doesn't care if you think your right, if you aren't you aren't.
And moron politicians will continue to not care if the universe is says they're wrong.
In its most extreme version, called a “technical capability notice”, a company would have to build a new capability to get access to the communication.
The bill specifies that such a capability cannot introduce a “systemic weakness” that could imperil all encrypted communications on the same platform - a key concern of privacy groups and the technology sector.'
So you mean in literally every single case because thats what allowing there to be any way to decrypt said information would cause.....?
ya the politicians need the scientists to make their bombs, cure their cancers, design their iphones, but when he scientists speak up their concerns fall on deaf ears.
Absolute fucking morons.
Now only criminals will have working encryption you stupid fucks.
Isn’t this completely pointless anyway for the reasons they listed?
Dont criminals and terrorists usually encrypt their own messages using their own code/ciphers? Maybe I’ve become accustom to dramatisations in tv shows and movies, but I’m almost certain that terrorist that are smart enough to make bombs are smart enough to encrypt their own messages lol.
So yeah the gov might be able to decrypt the what’s app encryption, but then all they are greeted with is another encrypted message that is likely something very hard to crack without context like a book cipher or something?
So doesn’t this law basically only hurt innocent people and do absolutely nothing to stop terrorism or criminals?
Future historians are laughing so hard right now
That is, parallel universe future historians since I don't trust our species to get our shit together and survive another 200 years
