USPS operating status for National Day of Mourning, Dec. 5, 2018
President Donald J. Trump has proclaimed Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, as a National Day of Mourning in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush.
Out of respect for the 41st President of the United States and to honor his vast contributions to our country during his lifetime, and consistent with the Presidential Proclamation, the United States Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Dec. 5.
We will provide limited package delivery service on that day to ensure that our network remains fluid and we do not experience any impacts to our package delivery operations that might negatively affect our customers or business partners during the remainder of our busy holiday season.
This is a day or so late, but I checked just about every search word I could think of to make sure no one else posted it.
The Media Is Erasing George H.W. Bush's Catastrophic Harm To LGB..
Fuck it, the only reason we're doing packages is because Amazon wants us to.
Fuck, I was waiting for something coming via USPS on the 5th.
If Trump fucks up smash ultimate for me this will finally be the event where I can say "the Trump administration has effected me personally."
It's not like people who are important in any way who wish to be taken seriously (in public, not online) can openly shit on a President after they died, the optics are too bad no matter what they actually did. Trump
will be a large test of this tho.
Considering the amount of people who would openly be thankful for the theoretical death of him, I don't think it'll really matter.
they're making a movie about a gun toting hell raising dick cheney too. A man who was planning the invasion of iraq from the WH bomb shelter on 9-11 and is boastful about his role in creating a top level sanctioned torture program.
If he could start mass torture and get away with it, why wouldn't he brag about it?
the USPS is treated like shit by the US Govt and I'm amazed the GOP and Trump are pro-G.H.W. Bush considering a lot of his policies if implemented today would cause the GOP to detonate a cruise missile over whoever was responsible
The postal service both is, and is not a government agency. Our authority sways to whoever in congress approves of it. Mostly cause we don't actually take money from the government. We just use it's services.
DoD and DoT are also off. It's all federal agencies.
Sadly as a contractor, I still have to be there.
It actually isn't too bad. We get paid pretty well, we got health and retirement benefits, and other neat stuff.
It also depends on where you're working. The city where I currently work isn't too bad.
If it's Priority or Amazon, you should still get it.
Fuck him, I ain't ordering shit, damn shame everyone he was (publicly or secretly) against didn't live to the age of 94.
Wrong, actually. Amazon is doing their own deliveries now and is no longer shipping through USPS.
Not everywhere.
Well, they are at least in the process of doing phasing out shipping with the USPS. They are testing their own delivery service now.
I can get that maybe city/densely populated areas still get their orders through USPS until then. My father works in a post office that isn't big but not small either and Amazon stopped sending their parcels/packages through them with that alone drastically cutting their holiday overtime. I admit I was inaccurate in that post.
I got a delivery from USPS today as well. Was surprised and was gonna ask the guy "aren't you closed today?"
What do I know? I'm just a fucking mailman.
I work in Concord, NH, and although a huge chunk of Amazon packages have been taken out of our hands we still need to deliver them; Since the only Amazon warehouse in NH is in Nashua it's totally impractical for them to ship packages far in the north by themselves. In fact, in the towns north of Concord there aren't any Amazon workers/contractors delivering.
