• Most servers hang on sending client info, friends have same issue

After the most recent Gmod update, it takes a literal hour to get past sending client info when joining servers. The game doesn't freeze (as the :v square spins) and as far as srcds is concerned, the player joined. Only tested two (home hosted, mine and a friend's) servers, but they were vastly different from one another with very few shared addons on two different computers in two different regions. Once the client finally loads though, everything works perfectly fine. This wasn't an issue until the said servers were updated to the most recent version.
It isn't unusual for the game to hang on sending client info for up to five minutes but that does sound odd. Is your game loaded with a bunch of useless addons?
I disabled them all and it doesn't matter. It seems to be a network issue of some kind related to the most recent update because before then, it'd only take me 2 minutes tops to join my or my friend's servers even with 13 pages worth of workshop addons installed. And I figured if it was an issue related to the amount of addons, it would freeze upon sending client info rather than acting like it's about to time out. And all my friends are having this problem joining my or my friend's server. Only thing I haven't tried yet is creating a new server with no addons on it and trying to join it, which I will do soon.
i have the same issue since the last update im trying to join a clone wars sv and im stuck at sending client info for more than 20 mins ( never happened before the update)
Never ever had these problems. Just for some minutes maybe and it was some years ago. I've heard someone having these issues joining on an empty server that has an automatic mapchange after X amount of hours (only when ppl online) or when the sever restarts or changes the map.
None of the servers in question has these systems, since they're just regular old private sandbox servers for our friend circles. It seems to be that the more someone joins (since the update mind you and not for the first time ever), the less time it takes for them to join each time. I have a feeling it's related to the lua security hash improvements.
