In the 30-minute show — which appears to be the first episode in a multipart series — Gorka tells the audience he will “take an in-depth look at the appeal of a system that promises equality to all and what happens when the initial enthusiasm gives way to a sobering reality.” The program kicks off with stylized footage of a hammer and sickle being forged in flames and then clips of speeches by Democratic socialists Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Virginia state Del. Lee Carter, and New York Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, much of it set to ominous music.

This story is 2 weeks old and I only learned about it because I saw the special while flipping through my local stations. The Salon article is the only nationwide source I found on it.

Is there any proof of him being a Nazi beyond him a medal he got from his father? According to a quick background check on Wiki things look pretty up-and-up there. The medal entered his family in 1979 through his father, who was given it by a Hungarian exile for his efforts leading a resistance to dictatorship by pro-Democracy group in Hungary. So it seems like a Hungarian exile, regardless of his politics, handed him a medal that he had on hand to show appreciation for his efforts against a communist dictatorship, and Gorka wears it in remembrance of his father. People who knew him deny he's an anti-semite and he himself called out the alt-right "a new label for nationalist bigots". He's a Conservative who wore a medal that was originally given out at the direction of Nazis, but that does not make him a Nazi, especially since the medal is has gone through at least 2 people since it left Nazi hands.

The organization was disbanded after WW2. due to it's strong anti-semtic ties and Hitler sympathizers. Accepting and presenting the medal despite this shows his values pretty clearly.

Yeah, but a Historian cited in the article says there were divisions in the order even during WW2 and some recipients were killed fighting the Nazis. And his isn't even from WW2, it's second-hand unofficial award from the late 70's because the man wanted Democracy in Soviet Hungary. You can play to the origins all you want, but in the man's own eyes that medal is far removed from World War II.
