Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng had summoned the Canadian ambassador and lodged a "strong protest", a statement said. The ministry described Ms Meng's arrest as "extremely nasty". Ms Meng, Huawei's chief financial officer and daughter of the firm's founder, is accused of breaking US sanctions on Iran. She was held in Vancouver last Saturday and faces extradition to the US, where she could be jailed for up to 30 years if found guilty.
Ms Meng's arrest while she was changing planes in Vancouver last Saturday was a serious breach of her rights, Reuters quoted the foreign ministry as saying. It "ignored the law" and was "unreasonable", it said. "China strongly urges the Canadian side to immediately release the detained person... otherwise Canada must accept full responsibility for the serious consequences caused," the statement added.
China literally trying to bully us into submission for simply cooperating in a lawful manner with our closest ally.
They don't even have the gall to criticize the US directly, bunch of cowards.
China you ain't gonna do shit, fuck off.
Nothing makes me quite as happy as the sight of China eating shit
Fuck China.
Ya... No, we're not gonna do that China
Sorry
She cute. Isn't Canada practically little china now anyway? That's what I've been told.
What does that even mean
Stop listening to propaganda.
Certain areas of Canada have a huge population of Chinese residents.
I think he's referring to the issues in Vancouver where wealthy Chinese were buying up most of the real estate. They had to pass laws to try and mitigate it. But that doesn't mean that post wasn't incredibly biased
Doesn't really mean anything though, it's not like they suddenly dictate policy.
Extradition treaties, the law's the law, bitches.
I believe it is ironic that China is telling Canada to do something when China has a large interest in Canada. There is no need for this. All they need to do is make some deals in the background and everyone will be happy.
Even if it was the case (it isn't) the US is still a bigger factor in our economy and political interests than China will ever be.
suck my dick china
In the immortal words of a pair of disembodied Canadian dickbeaters normally seen fondling the innards of power tools: Go fuck your hat
No problem, we are fast tracking her to be released into US custody.
Square the fuck up, Thot.
"it's not criminal if it's one of ours"
As you do with everything.
There's this little thing called "rule of law" China might be interested to read about
At least he realised it for once.
Heard on BBC World Service News that only now has China started to threaten the US for her release.
