• Republican anxiety spikes as Trump faces growing perils

https://wapo.st/2G7T0zz A growing number of Republicans fear that a battery of new revelations in the far-reaching Russia investigation has dramatically heightened the legal and political danger to Donald Trump’s presidency — and threatens to consume the rest of the party, as well. Some GOP senators were particularly shaken by this week’s revelation that former national security adviser Michael Flynn had met with Mueller’s team 19 separate times — a distressing signal to them that the probe may be more serious than they had been led to assume, according to senior Republican officials. For now, Republicans on Capitol Hill are still inclined to stand by Trump and give the president the benefit of the doubt. But one pro-Trump senator said privately that a breaking point would be if Mueller documents conspiracy with Russians. “Then they’ve lost me,” said the senator, noting that several Republican lawmakers have been willing to publicly break with Trump when they believe it is in their interests — as many did over Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s role in the brutal killing of dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Another possible breaking point could come if Trump pardons his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, who has elicited the president’s sympathy as he sits in solitary confinement in a Virginia prison following the collapse of his plea agreement with Mueller’s team, White House aides and Republican lawmakers said. Trump advisers said they understand that a pardon of Manafort could be difficult to defend and could prompt rebukes from Republican allies.
How cute.
A growing number of Republicans fear that a battery of new revelations in the far-reaching Russia investigation has dramatically heightened the legal and political danger to Donald Trump’s presidency — and threatens to consume the rest of the party, as well. The FUCK did you THINK was going to happen when you went all-in on a fucking selfish, nepotistic, entitled, narcissistic, under-handed con-man, you fucking tools?!
I mean they thought they were going to win bigly in the midterms and keep the House, maybe they're just delusional.
That look. That look on his fat fucking porky pig face. He knows what's coming.
"Wait you mean Trump lied to us and might have actually committed crimes!"
one moreso than the other, simply because one is causing the most damage now
Yeah, disgusting what this country has come to.
Good.
The Trump Regime is basically just an episode of the Simpsons, Always Sunny, Trailer Park Boys, Curb your Enthusiasm and the Office blended into one nightmarish hellscape that'd be funny as a TV show but its not because we're currently caught as the background actors of this shitty life.
I've been saying this nonstop for the last two years but it seems like most people have just bowed to their parties and are more entrenched than ever Maine was successful implementing runoff voting (after literally every politician shit themselves and tried to stop it) so maybe there's hope but honestly unless federal elections switch to runoff voting I think both parties will end disastrously and we'll be picking up the pieces for years and years
Democrats seem fairly stable at the moment, they gave House progressives a pretty sweet deal
I mean I guess when all of the old blood dies out they'll be in a more solid place but right now the DNC is trying not to cannibalize itself over superdelegates, a huge swath of people are still pissed about how Bernie was treated, and there's still a schism imo between general liberals and ultraprogressives granted the Democrats didn't just put a puppet of a foreign government into the white house but I feel like that's a pretty low bar to pass lmao
Yeah, the DNC is more stable than the GOP right now because they're not all under investigation for treason, but they're still far from stable. Mainly because the majority of left-leaning young voters are calling for extreme changes that the DNC isn't really willing or even prepared to pursue. Though, lately, it seems like left's voting base is a lot more willing to coordinate and compromise. Seems like Trump made everyone realize that you have to make compromises to work with a fundamentally broken system. Call that one good thing he's done, I guess.
The White House is adopting a ‘shrugged shoulders’ strategy to Mueller’s Russia probe, calculating that GOP base voters will believe whatever the president tells them to believe. Sad thing is, they're right.
Go hang for all I care, it's about time somebody managed to dismantle this corrupt bullshit of a presidency, even better that it managed to ruin any credibility you had in peoples' eyes, except for stupid rednecks and dyed in the wool racists.
Well, every Republican politician
Out of all the manipulation tactics a politician could employ I can't believe that that flat out denying reality with no logic or evidence is one that works
A growing number of Republicans fear that a battery of new revelations in the far-reaching Russia investigation has dramatically heightened the legal and political danger to Donald Trump’s presidency — and threatens to consume the rest of the party, as well. Gee, it's almost like backing a mentally deficient megalomaniac was a bad idea or something!

And unfortunately true. The GOP voting base by and hard has given into total delusion. More of them are outright conspiracy theorists now than at any previous point in the party's history, thanks in large part to the rise of "alternative news" bullshit like Infowars.
