https://thehill.com/hilltv/rising/420222-there-are-ups-and-downs-in-trumps-relationship-with-lgbt-community-says-leader The executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans said on Friday that there have been ups and downs as to how the Trump administration has dealt with policies impacting the LGBT community.  "I think there's a lot of ups and downs in the last two years with some of the administration's actions," Jerri Ann Henry told Hill.TV's Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti on "Rising." "He has been more vocally supportive than any Republican candidate or president, but there have been a few things that I haven't loved that the administration has done, and some things that I think we can do some work on," she continued. "I want to make sure that we have the opportunity to improve on those things, not just fight over them," she said. "Some of the issues where we can make major improvements are just the nuances. You know, marriage has only been legal for a short time, and we've seen a few hiccups here and there how that's been rolled out with the military, with the State Department, visas, and how they handle married LGBT partners and non-married LGBT partners for diplomats. That's something we need a lot of work on." President Trump appeared to be vocally supportive of the LGBT community during the 2016 presidential campaign, tweeting in June of 2016 that he would fight for the community. However, critics and numerous members of the LGBT community have said Trump's policies have negatively impacted the community.  The administration has moved to ban transgender individuals from the military and has rolled back Obama-era protections for transgender students. Reports surfaced in October that the administration had started denying visas to some unmarried, same-sex partners of foreign diplomats and employees of the United Nations (U.N.).
Yeah no fucking shit lmao
I'm pretty sure still thinking that Donald fucking Trump did anything to benefit LGBT people counts as a psychiatric delusion at this point.

HE HeLd THe fLAg
it has its tops and its bottoms
willful ignorance is the worst kind of ignorance.
I'm leaking the exclusive list of ups and downs: Notable ups include: He hasn't put us in camps yet It could be worse He's building the wall to keep those taco twinks out HE HELD A FLAG Notable downs include: He plans to put us into camps He's actively stripping us of our rights He's building a wall to keep those bonita bears out
What the fuck kind of ups have there been???
I mean, he hasn't round up the queers, lesbos and trannies against the wall and shot up or hoard them into camps so I don't see why you're complaining :^) Sigh, what a fucking nothingburger YET AGAIN /s if that somehow wasn't fucking clear
"He has been more vocally supportive than any Republican candidate or president, The FUCK are you on about?
I wish I could understand conservative LGBT people, but I can't.
LGBT Republicans are like sheep amidst a pack of wolves saying "well they haven't eaten us YET so i'm sure everything will be fine "
It's not just about gay people. The Trump administration is trying it make it unreasonably hard for transgender people to join the military, and a lot of other things.
Was this before or after he forced trans women to be assigned to male prisons based off of their birth sex?
Right because America isn't pulling out of the Paris Agreement? Nothing's a done deal with these bomb-throwing idiots in charge. Obamacare is supposed to be a done deal but Republicans voted like 60 times to kill it, and then utterly failed at actually killing it for the past two years so Trump has been hacking away at it by cutting funding and making it harder to use the program. You're far too trusting of the current US government.
So what you're saying is "Pence would very much like to zap gay people. There's really nothing he'd rather do in life, however, he sadly can't get a majority to support it"?
you keep mentioning gay marriage as if that's the only thing the lgbt community wants. Just because they won't undo gay marriage doesn't mean they can't repeal laws and regulations that protect lgbt people in the work place, guarantee the right to fair employment, to adopt children, etc i used to think like you did. then the trump admin started rolling back protections for trans people and trying desperately to get trans servicepeople out of the army in any capacity it's shortsighted to think of something as set in stone like you seem to think it is, because any law can be thoroughly undermined.
Trump's track record on transgender rights is absolutely terrifying.
But he let Kaitlin Jenner use the girls room at Trump tower!
So, yeah, that's kind of the point. Basic human rights are things we all agree on, yeah? That's what makes them human rights. Society mutually agrees that everyone deserves to be treated in a certain way, to a certain standard. Generally, it's a problem if there's something that a large portion of the population believes to be a human right, while the other population disagrees. This is an incredibly contentious concept. Those people who enjoy, or may even depend on a certain human right, will never quite feel secure with their position in society if a large portion of the population is actively hounding for those rights to be removed. When there is still a visibly large, active movement in politics to strip more and more rights away from a group of people, you can in no way insist that the panic that group would feel is unnecessary. Especially when the rights movement and what it has accomplished is comparatively so young. You want to know why people are worried about this sort of stuff? Why there's a panic, why, as you said, people are worried that repbulicans are going to 'eat' the gays? It's because of this: You're not entirely wrong, and that's a huge fucking problem. As long as a sizable portion of the population stays dedicated to antiquated beliefs, be it by way of ignorance or intentional bigotry, that 'basic human right' you claim gay marriage to be will always be in a tenuous position.
Unfortunately, Pence would likely be WORSE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_-iOtRlDbzQ&t=91s
I always wondered what ever happened to "Twinks for Trump"
Some people hate other people more than they like themselves.
this might be crazy i know, but i don't think people should settle for "most" of their rights
Is there a name for like the LGBT version of an Uncle Tom? Be appropriate for this situation.
Still your buddy? Trump administration halts study ‘to discover a cure for HIV’
To be fair, he only stopped the cure to aids to also stop something that remotely reminds someone of abortion. So it wasn't to be a dick to gay people, it was to be a dick to women.
And double-up on gay women!
They got the exact thing they wanted: Getting fucked by the Man
