Honestly, the Internet and so many things that revolve around it just feel like such a big mistake at times. Granted, I am using the Internet literally right now, and even when I was a wee lad we had dial-up Internet at home. But sometimes I wonder if the world would be a better place if the Internet never existed.
Depends what you mean by "better". People tend to go about their everyday lives in the easiest way possible, and the Internet and technology in general made a lot of things way simpler than they used to be.
For example, before smartphones, people with lots of contacts usually use an address book rather than the cloud-based contact list we have now.
You can say there's a lot of side-effects to our growing dependancy on technology. It enables us to be lazier since most common things you do everyday can be done from your home or from your phone. But whether the pros outweigh the cons is up for debate.
