I've been playing video games since my dad bought me an Atari 2600 in the mid 1980s when I was about 5 years old. I have played -everything-, from the Atari 2600, to the NES, to the Sega Genesis, Super NES, the old PS1, to starting my PC gaming when I was a young teen around 1996.... the glory days of multiplayer QUAKE in 1997,1998... all of the old school Blizzard games... the OG Counter-Strike mod.... the OG Nazi zombies mod from Day of Defeat.... I've played everything. I've probably played more video game hours than anyone you've ever met. I'm really good at any game I play. So believe me when I tell you, RUST is the most pathetic game for Solo players I've ever played. Yes, the community is toxic. Actually, this game has attracted some of the worst human scum I've ever come across in any community. But that's beside the point. The main problem is that, YOU, the developers, Facepunch.... you've fostered this. Why is the game so broken for Solo players? I will tell you my experience with Rust, as a Solo player : In under 100 hours, I was able to play on an Official Vanilla server, Rustafied Long II. I got raided in my 1st base, as I didn't know how the game worked yet. I built an airlock, but the airlock triangle foundation and walls were made of wood. So all someone had to do was doorcamp me, then hatchet it down, and they got in.... and only had 1 more door to get through. That sucked. A lot of hours grinding gone. But I came back, not to allow myself to be defeated. I logged back in the next day, and I went on to learn every BP I could. I grinded Scrap hardcore. I sold all my metal and HQM to the Bandit Camp for even more Scrap. I farmed the crap out of barrels and visited recyclers in the Science Outpost. I focused all of my energy into spending everything I had to learn Blueprints. If someone raided me, they got squat. I didn't have much in my chests. All of my wealth was in my character - the learned Blueprints. Once I had enough BP's learned, I farmed 10k metal, and built a super metal Solo base. 1k metal upkeep daily. 2 outside Metal doors, 2 inner garage doors, on a 1x3 with a secret underground chest area. I had 6 large chests, 3 furnaces, etc... high external wooden walls and gates surrounding me. I got raided by a group, and they thought I only had metal doors.. so they ran out of explosives when they encountered two garage doors in the inner base. They failed to reach loot when they offlined me. I then got raided when I was online by a guy I killed. I stole his M2 machine gun with explosive rounds. He knew where I lived. He came back with another M2 with explosive rounds, and was raiding me, but I successfully defended him. Then he lost another M2. I then saved up enough sulfur to go Satchel raiding. By myself. And guess who I targeted? The guy who raided my 1st newbie base. I went there with 16 satchels. As I was halfway through his base, a group of 3 came from behind me and killed me. They heard the explosions and came running. Which is fine with me, because they looted me and then proceeded to continue the raid on my Arch Nemesis. They wrecked his base for me and finished the job. I even went to the Airfield and did the Airfield puzzle with the blue and green keycard and 2 fuses. I went at night. The loot sucked. I did all this in under 100 hours as a pure Solo player. On an OFFICIAL Vanilla server, with 30 man clans roaming around the server and everyone grouped up and running 10 man deep, or 3 man deep, etc... After I accomplished my goals, I quit. I kept playing this game only to prove a point. Not because I liked it. I tried to play one more time, in this recent wipe, but I couldn't do that to myself again. It's not fun. I already conquered, I'm not doing this again. So, HERE IS SOME ADVICE ON HOW TO FIX THIS GAME FOR SOLO PLAYERS : The boats.... as a Solo player, I tried to go on the boat and farm sea barrels. Except there's duo's who patrol their boats and will chase you down while one drives, and the other shoots at you. As a Solo player, I can't shoot and drive. If I stop, they stop, and now it's 2v1. My solution is simple. IF YOU HAVE ONLY ONE PLAYER IN THE BOAT = YOU GO FASTER, because there is less weight. 1 player is faster than 2 players. 2 player boat is faster than 3 players, etc.... This is realistic, and gives Solo players a chance to escape if they can dodge a few shots at them. Running Speed. Solo players need to be faster than the groups who are all about roaming deep. Make a setting that you can only change at your Bed. "RUN FAST" setting, which means you run faster but use more calories. And then "MORE HEALTH" setting, which gives you more health, but you run normally. So this is basically, Speed vs Muscle. As a Solo player, if I could outrun groups, this would be tremendous. I would always choose RUN FAST. Groups would see Solo players, shoot at them, but if they miss too much... the Solo player is gone. This gives Solo players a freaking chance to play this game. I have to go to work now, but I'll come back and give you more ideas.
You got an ego problem and your ideas suck. Try a solo/duo server with active non-playing admins; or try joining up with a few people.
You need to build a better base, have a shop front so you can see without getting shot, join a solo server like i do! I am 48 born 1970, I too played all those games and bet I have more hours played in games then you in total. But with that said I have 1700 hrs in Rust and i LOVE it! You need to play deceptively, you need to draw attention to areas of your base that you want people to raid. You want to look like a noob builder so they think easy peasy.... Rust is built on deception, trades, lies, and killing for what you need. Use Small Stashes often to hide 50% of your best resources or gear. always have a back up stash so if you're raided you can get right back to the game where you left off! You're entire issue is you are playing SOLO on Solo / DUO / TRIO servers.... No matter how good you are or get you cannot defend off 3 players raiding you or camping you at monuments all the time! Join a Solo server, there are hundreds of them! Then you're true Prowess can be tested!
"Ideas for solo" Thought it was some sort of critique on star wars.
So how many hours have you played on Rust ? (a screen shot would be nice),
" I can't shoot and drive" I see you are really experienced in rust.
Must be extremely long hours. or just a very slow thinker.
I don't think they focus entirely on realism for obvious reasons, people are here to play a game and have fun. I don't understand the complaining about soloing in rust, it's an unforgiving game even when you have more than one person in your group. It's a pretty simple concept, the more guys you have the more stuff you can do and you can achieve those things much faster than just one guy doing tasks. Basically, what I'm saying is there's always a bigger fish.
Good idea, choose run and outrun group or just choose health and gain more health then outplay the full group and gg. Thats why hate ARK and the level system with 2000hp after upgrade and like rust because its balanced for everyone...
