I don't think its a bad idea but its not a $180 good idea.
Its also pretty specific as you already need the same styled Corsair RAM modules to actually fill the rest with the same looking one.
There already are real RAM sticks that come with RGB lighting.

seems like this is more of a way to sell extra chip cases than actually make something new (and stupid) they probably just use complete chips minus the actual dram modules.
So you buy the coloured ram and download the rest?
Just sell the RGB strips separately and include a bottle of Elmer's Glue.

I will never ever understand non-essential LEDs on internal components. Then again, my computer is just in a black rectangular case with no internal view at all.
