Rep. Kevin McCarthy: America is too great to bother with investigating Trump

House Majority Leader (but not for much longer) Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) is wishing congressional investigations not to occur for America’s sake. America is “too great to have
such a small agenda,” he said Monday on Fox News.
Put another way, McCarthy believes America has better things to do than to look into potential wrongdoing by President Donald Trump.
During the segment, a video played showing Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) predicting that Trump faces a “real prospect of jail time” and may end up being charged with a
crime as soon as he is no longer president. McCarthy downplayed the president’s legal peril. He placed blame solely on Michael Cohen for the campaign finance violations otherwise
known as the Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal payments.
McCarthy said a lot of members of Congress would have to leave if campaign finance violations were taken seriously.
“It looks like what they’re going to focus on is just more investigations. I think America is too great of a nation to have such a small agenda,” he said. “I think there are other problems
out there that we should be focused on.” “We’ve investigated this for a long time, both sides have come up with nothing,” he added. McCarthy said it was time to move forward.
As Law&Crime noted before, there are a number of ways a Democrat-controlled House could be a thorn in President Trump’s side come 2019.
Also from Rand Paul: “If we’re going to prosecute people and put them in jail for campaign finance violations, we’re going to become a banana republic."
Sure america's too great to bother with investigating trump, just like my asshole is secretly dictator of the EU, but I guess we can't have all the things we want
I like Vox's headline
"GOP leader who gloated about Benghazi probe wants Dems to refrain from investigating Trump"
I've seen actual banana republics with less political strife than the United States.
McCarthy said a lot of members of Congress would have to leave if campaign finance violations were taken seriously.
Fuck every one of them. Lock them all up. Dem. Rep. Get fucked.

"i swear hes cool guys"
Nixon should have been jailed to show that there are consequences for fucking around in high office. If someone ends up pardoning Trump on the pretense of 'allowing the nation to come together' I swear to christ
A Washington Post guest predicted Trump will resign ten minutes before he leaves office in 2021 and Pence pardons him
So what is it. Does America need to be made great again or is it already great to where we shouldn't investigate Trump.
At the end of the day what this amounts to is a test as to whether Americans are willing to give up real freedom for fake safety and flattering lies.
So here's what we need to do: vote Trump out of office in 2020, indict him the very next day, and then over the next four or five years systematically try and convict every last congressional politician involved in campaign finance violations, obstruction of justice, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Lock up every last one of the corrupt bastards.
In this parallel dimension, McCarthy wants to specifically avoid investigating collusion with Russia
Leterally "Cant hear you over all the GREATNESS happrning over here!"
"Great" sounds like a substitute for "corrupt"
"Make America Great Again"
breaking news: republican is republican
Eh, the last time America was great was somewhere in the '80s, and that is debatable
Can we knock it off with the "list of people surprised" type stuff? Like it was kind of funny at the beginning but at this point we're just normalizing blatant historic levels of corruption. Like I get, we're all living in this miserable timeline and humor is one of the ways we cope with it, but lately there are way too many funny ratings and not enough asshole ratings if you get my drift. Rolling our eyes and laughing at the absurdity of it all is all well and good until it starts desensitizing us to what's actually happening, and then it becomes a kind of de facto acquiesce.
Not to mention there are plenty of decent Republicans in both the electorate and government who aren't defrauding the American people and compromising our national security on a daily basis, so if we take the cynical/snarky road every time a story like this breaks, we're not only trivializing a legitimate national emergency but also turning a blind eye to coalition-building. We can't afford to do either right now.
tldr we shouldn't be getting used to this insane bullshit
Guys, eggs are round. We shouldn't be investigating Trump.
What do I mean by that? Sure, I'll explain. You see, I had a dog once named Jeff. It makes perfect sense. Do what's right for the USA of America.
Add Orrin Hatch (longest serving Republican in the Senate) to the list of people who don't care.

He literally said "okay I don't care" then started talking about how great the economy is lol.
He's gone in 23 days at least.
Makes this whole thing worse if anything. We have observed a pattern of Republicans who no longer have much stake in the Trump presidency or the future of the party willing to criticize him. If a respected member of the Republican party is stepping down and not seeking re-election and still saying "yeah but I don't care", what is the attitude amongst Senators and Representatives who have to continue towing the Trump line to avoid being primaried out?
They're either rabid Trumpsters like Cindy Hyde-Smith, or hate Trump for what he's done. But the GOP leadership is compromised and none of them can oppose anything. Mitch too 3.5 million from a guy
linked to Russian oligarchs.
I find it especially ironic consider the last name he bears.
A good chunk of the GOP don't give a shit about the investigation up til the point that it undermines their political foundation and their balance of power weakens.
