Okey. Actually is Rust using only your RAM memory or what ? I join to EMPTY SERVER and my game is using 6GB of RAM, i join to server where is 50/100 and my game is using 6.5GB RAM, i join to official server and my game is using 7.5GB RAM. My RAM is 8GB, in 2018 is 8GB of RAM nothing but anyway, wtf is this ? I am really long time playing Conan Exiles... This game have 30GB files to download, 100+ items to craft, 50+ type of thralls, 30+ type of animals, base EVERYWHERE, map size is like 10.000 in Rust, bad performance, more challenging graphics BUT I NEVER SAW IN THIS GAME USING 7.5GB OF MY RAM. I am not alone with this problem, i know that. BTW its "sandbox game".
https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/2304/dfc2a9a9-83da-408c-8316-7a5c0b7707bc/image.png As crazy as it is to think, 8GB is starting to be insufficient for gaming and Rust is no exception.
i dont have a problem to play any game with 8GB RAM cuz games are not using 8GB of my RAM. Did you check what i said about Conan Exiles? Do it again. They have a problem with RAM usage and tell everyone and write "buy more RAM" is not solution how to fix that or how to make this game better. If players see the problems and ignore them, they will not try to fix them.
The two games you're trying to compare are made by very different developers, on two very different engines. Of course they're going to behave differently.
I am not trying to tell you this, i know they are not similar games, its CE and Rust. Point of my comment is, how much is Conan Exiles "demanding" for your PC but anyway you can play without problems like in Rust. I am playing Rust 6.000 hours, i know how this game is going up, whats new in this game, what is better, what is bad and other. I am not trying to compare Rust with CE but you understrand me ? There is problem so why they are not trying to fix that ? Every update when there is any problem, they just talking like "we are working on fix, we are working on better performance" and more and more and more, same every month/year, u know that. Every "update stream" is ton of players in chat asking about optimization but they never answer.. Why ? Cuz they dont want to fix that. Everytime when me or someone other ask "why is my game using 8GB RAM", answer is "just buy more ram". No this is not helping cuz there are players with 16GB RAM and their game looks like with 8GB RAM. Its problem in game so i am asking, why this problem is not fixed for 4 years ?
If fixing optimization was as easy as merely wanting to fix it then the devs would've mastered optimization to shut all you whiners the fuck up years ago. You have no idea how difficult optimizing a game is. And if you think it's easy, go make your own game and do a better job than Rust's dev team. Go on, we're waiting.
Problem with that statement Elix is that you have been using that line for over four years now
Game development hasn't fundamentally changed in four years. It was true in 2013 and it's true today.
Outside of a few small things, RAM is not going to affect how your game looks.
Just buy new RAM and dont rant about stupid stuff. Lel
That's exactly what I thought you would say
I don't think you realize how game development works.
HA! Ya know, there seems to be these puns used around here that have gained momentum over the last 3-4 years. Coined phrases that everyone likes to use when they have excuses for something not getting done. That was one of them. True to the point, you probably are right. I have never developed a game of my own,but I am also not a mechanic yet I drive a car everyday. I know how it reacts, I know when my car needs attention. I know my car probably better than my mechanic and I can tell you that I would not let my car go this long with an issue. See, condescending comments like that don't get to the issue, they add to it. Attempting to cover up or conceal a situation from the general for so long and thinking the public just doesn't know what they are talking about...well, not a smart model. What I CAN tell you is, this is not the first time this has come up. Do I really need to copy and paste the upteen amounts of posts, from the Devs on their recognition of the matter? Do I really need to display all the Reddit (not to mention here) post's about optimization, because I will. And would you come back with the same response? This is not a natural progression, I have and have played MANY early access games with much more intricate designs and never got as much excuse as I have with this game. I have played this game since browser and every year it is the same old excuse It is one thing to develop but it is entirely a different matter when you compose and pile upon pile without cleaning up. So, go ahead pour out your excuses and tell me what a naive person I am, it wont change the fact that this game is 100% redundant in the excuse category
As someone who hasn't posted in the Rust section until recently, I can say with 100% certainty that I have no coined phrases to use an an excuse. As a freelance software developer, I can tell you optimization with just one person is hard. Try optimization with a team of people. And go on top of that you have differing setups to work with as well, it compounds on itself. "I don't have to be a chef to say it tastes like shit" applies here yes, but if you don't have an idea on how to fix it you really shouldn't be saying this is the top priority. The Rust devs have a list of priorities and right now optimization isn't at the top I would say.
Whats funny about your statement is, I AM a Chef. Yes, by trade and my day to day. With that said, being a Chef in Las Vegas I am always hearing of people who think they know food. Especially when I know they don't. So, on that level you made a good example which I commend you for. At the same time, the one thing you didn't mention was customer service. With everything that you just spoke of you never mentioned a remedy, just another excuse. When and if my customers have an issue, whether or not they are right or wrong I, at the very least attempt to make them happy. 99% of the time I succeed because I address the situation. With that said, if I gave out as many excuses I would be out of a job. 2-3 years..maybe but not 5
I don't think you know how puns or game development work. Star Citizen is really starting to come together, after years of intensive work, and it's shaping up to be a truly next-generation game and is taking an appropriate amount of time for such a groundbreaking and ambitious project. Rust isn't aiming to be as big a project, nor is its dev team nearly as large (SC has some 500 people working on it), but that doesn't mean you can reasonably expect it to just finish everything in a snap. Not even sure where you were going with this except to make a dumb and uninformed zing about long development cycles. What is this even supposed to mean? Try and stay coherent in your ranting.
LOL "Star citizen is really starting to come along" like I said years ago Elix, keep coming with more excuses. You are just a freakin tool..lol You make excuses for Rust, as you have for so long man...I gotta give it to you fanboy,at least you are dedicated, even if it is a losing cause.
Windows 10 start setting type Performance ~ Advanced tab change memory allocation, set a virtual ram file min 128 max 12000 click apply
So why don't you tell me why you think that's funny? When's the last time you even looked at Star Citizen? Oh and on that topic, Star Citizen pretty much requires 16GB of RAM and will explicitly warn you if you launch the game with less than 8GB free. You call me a fanboy but all you've got to say in response is shitposting.
shitposting? Ha you really are full of yourself. Dood, you have been talking the same shit for over five years....and STILL no results or merit to anything you have stated. Get over yourself. Or perhaps it's delusion. You have convinced yourself that you are right in every scenario. But just like that bet (years ago) you still are fucking wrong . And yet you still spew words of bullshit to people on this forum saying shit like you do. Just stop already
That's not actually that useful, you're just adding to the page file which is (likely) on an optical drive - very slow in other words.
What other suggestion do you have short of buying more ram? Its better than nothing!
