https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/12/huawei-cfo-arrest-trump-could-intervene-if-it-helps-us-china-deal.html U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he would intervene with the U.S. Justice Department in the case against a Chinese telecommunications executive if it would help secure a trade deal with Beijing. "If I think it's good for the country, if I think it's good for what will be certainly the largest trade deal ever made — which is a very important thing — what's good for national security — I would certainly intervene if I thought it was necessary," Trump said in a wide-ranging interview with Reuters in the Oval Office. Trump expressed optimism that he could strike a trade deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping as the two countries struggle to resolve a dispute that has contributed to recent U.S. stock market declines and raised questions about whether economic turmoil could beset the president in the new year. At the request of U.S. authorities, Huawei Technologies executive Meng Wanzhou was arrested earlier this month in Vancouver on charges of violating U.S. sanctions against Iran. The arrest came the same day Trump and Xi declared a 90-day truce in their trade war during summit talks in Buenos Aires. If extradited to the United States, Meng would face charges of conspiracy to defraud multiple financial institutions. A Canadian court on Tuesday granted Meng bail while she awaits an extradition hearing Trump has intervened on behalf of a Chinese company before. Asked if he would like to see Meng extradited to the United States, Trump said he wanted to first see what the Chinese request. He added, however, that Huawei's alleged practices are troubling.
"Tough on China"
How about you stay the fuck out of Canadas business
I mean we only arrested Meng because the US asked us to and our extradition treaty says we should cooperate because the allegations meet the standards for custody and extradition. And now Trump's saying he's willing to look the other way and let Huawei apparently just totally get away with violating trade sanctions on Iran if Xi goes easy on him in negotiations he made unnecessarily tense by tariffing more than half of China's exports to the US. The Art of the Deal, folks. Can't make it any more clear.
This is an even worse scenario then, shit
"If I think it's good for the country, if I think it's good for what will be certainly the largest trade deal ever made — which is a very important thing — what's good for national security — I would certainly intervene if I thought it was necessary," John Oliver was right - Trump's sentences do indeed sound even more disjointed when written down.
intervene how? he's either going to have to pardon her or shut up.
I do think she is unjustly being prosecuted for violating Iran sanctions when the US shouldn't even have jurisdiction over her on that, and the Iran sanctions are dumb to begin with because Trump threw out the Iran Nuclear Deal.
Ahhh it all makes sense now hold China and Canada for ransom
It looks like I'm reading something Porky Pig said.
Professional traitor offers to commit more treason. The impeachment cannot come soon enough.
